I also noticed this when the number of votes changed just before the voting ended.

If you vote for the map/mode that you want, what does it matter?
There's no confusion and panic unless you, also, are trying to game the system.
I like to park my 12 multiplier on something bland. Not Frozen City, not Terra Therma. Then at the last second, I deselect so that the people trying to farm and switch to Terra Therma at the last second get screwed. I'm the anti-troll troll.

Once you pick a map to play in Quick play then, that's it, no swapping. I see it backfire some many times and teams end up terra therma or virdian bog cause people are trying to game the system.
How do other people feel about this then?
What's wrong with Terra? Second best map in the game right there...
I can sympathize about Viridian though. That's a frustrating map.

I do this too. It's like a random select option.

Those are my 2 favorite maps...

Eh, that would be good. Or just make the vote blind in the first place. I do sometimes click on the wrong map by accident, so being able to correct that would be nice, though not that big a deal (I don't bother voting half the time anyhow, because tbh I'll play any map any mode. I'd be ok with totally random again, tbh)

I think conquest is kinda a stupid mode with a lot of the maps.

Only because everyone always migrates to the same two hills before the fight, and then tries to fight between them where there's a lot of shells and trees to get in the way. There are several good areas for fighting on Bog if people would just stop gravitating to the same bad location every game.
And they're not even that far away, actually. Instead of fighting on the side of those hills that's closer to the map edge, fight on the opposite side. It's mostly clear (for LOS purposes) but still has cover to make it tactically interesting.

VietBog is my favorite map. I pick it every time it comes up.
To reiterate all the good ideas though:
1. One vote per category, no changing.
2. Status of the votes is not shown.

I think it's hilarious and I enjoy doing it. "I'll take Dakka Jager on TT for 1,000+ damage, please Alex."
That said, I don't care one whit if they changed it.
I think the multiplier is a good add-on, because it helps less popular maps at least show up once in a blue moon. But, I could see making the voting secret ballot, and/or non-changeable once cast. I'd be fine with either or both of those.

If 2 is done, 1 is not necessary.
And really, 1 by itself doesn't help (that much) because people will just wait until the last second to vote. 2 is really the best solution.

No, that's not why it's frustrating. It's frustrating because you can't move and you can't see. It's one of the worst maps for that. I'm so tired of getting stuck on everything I bump in my Assault, or having my Light Mech just barely catch its elbow on a bug shell and stop dead. It's one of the worst maps for ground clutter in the game.
