Jenner IIC with 6SRM6 is ludicrously hot and has fairly limited ammo. It's quite self-limiting; it can rip single targets apart but forced to deal with multiple opponents it's dead meat.

What was your armor distribution on your Orion? Two SRM6 volleys is 144 damage, most likely spread across the torso. Sensibly front-loaded, front armor count would be around 196 points. Unless you're running stock rear armor values, you should have been able to tank around 3-4 volleys, XL Engine or not (and for the record, that build can get *only* two volleys off, it sits at about 96% heat afterwards and HAS to withdraw to cool down).

Were you with your teammates? If you wandered off, getting caught isolated by any light mech that isn't, say, a Spider would be more or less a death sentence unless you're packing streaks.

using a Spider (5K) I have taken down a fresh Atlas inside 10 seconds several times, if you are isolated that is not enough time for help to arrive, so stay with the team

Fair enough, a good Spider is not to be underestimated :P I had just meant that in relation to mechs such as the Firestarter or the Arctic Cheetah we see so often as frontline combat mechs.

Fitting 6 SRM6's, with enough ammo and a few jump jets means you are probably running a max speed that's probably less than 120kph (pre-speed tweak).

That's not a very maneuverable light, and runs pretty hot. It's what we call a glass cannon.

So yeah, the balance here is fine, the build rules of this game let you do crazy stuff. But they are sometimes just that, "crazy builds", that can be deadly, but are certainly not all around effective.

Oh look. Yet another "Something killed me so you need to nerf it" thread.

Lovely.
