Standard Engines aren't really required for an LRM boat. I mean you can upgrade the engine to a 300 XL, and go for like 2 LRM15s with Artemis (8 tons of ammo), Beagle, NARC (1.5t of ammo), 6 MLs and some tonnage to spare. Just hang back (indirect fire so no real need for Artemis), NARC anything that gets close and you've got 6 MLs for anything that gets too close.

Contrarily, for the Wubhammer, you don't want an XL because you're getting close and brawling. Dropping the 330 XL, the AMS & ammo lets you fit a 300 Standard once you add Endo-Steel. You can only fit 2 DHS back into the engine, but you've still got 20 of them, and you've got half a ton to put back on the legs, or you can shave half ton and keep the AMS, but with only half a ton of ammo.

EFFECTIVE, although I feel the Battletech god's sneer of disapproval:
Black Widow with a Gauss and 3 LPL (abandoning one side as a shield mostly)
SUPER FUN and more authentic feeling build:
WHM-6R with 2xPPC and 2xAC5, and also 4xML as close range backup.
The thing that makes that 2nd build so much fun is grouping the left PPC and left AC5 together on the left mouse, and doing the same on the right side PPC and AC5 on the right mouse.
With the quirks, the speed of the two projectiles are about the same, and the locations mean they cluster reasonably together... the end result is like you're firing PPCs that do 15 damage each. It still feels like a Warhammer should play, but with an added "kicker" in every PPC shot. It feels like it's compensating for the PPC not really being "all that".
(Both of those builds require an XL (I run XL 280s in them)

Haven't had much time to play with the 'Hammer but I'm keeping the PPC's on the 6R, might try the 3X SRM build for the 7S.
I'll pass on the Wub 6D only because I already have a Thunderbolt 5SS with 7 MPL.

It's quite fun, though I find the 6D to be the most fun. The 7S is a pretty damn good missile boat as well.

These are my to possible builds.
This guy has some wubs and some missiles for mop up. Wubs are arm mounted because I always liked the way a LPL feels with the added mobility of an arm.

For this one I would sincerely hope I get the cool, missile racks of the Tomahawk destroid and not the lame missile boxes I've seen in many pictures. LLas are torso mounted so I can zombie and MLas are in arms for the faster guys.

MWO has brought to light how poor of a choice it is to put PPCs in such low slung arms (or maybe it's the maps) so it's a shame that we didn't get a variant with ballistics in the arms.

mentioned 6R Boobhammer.
3ERLL and Gauss is very good in my opinion. I've been having very good runs with it. Here's the build I've been using on the 6R: WHM-6R. I was planning to put in a STD 275 and an half ton of ammo, but I misplaced my 275 somewhere... I imagine this will do better in the BW because of the better ballistics and energy quirks.
Here's my first 6 runs with the build so far.

I'm sad because my intention was to keep PPCs on WHM, but LPLs are far better. ER/PPCs in this moment aren't worth the tons and slots they need to be equipped and it's impossible to fire more than 5-6 ER single shots without shutting down for the heat output on a 18 DHS mech (18!!).

I've been using this build in Quick Play and it's been surprisingly enjoyable. 2x ERLL, 2x LPL, 2x MPL, 2x ML, 300XL.
I run it with LPL cooldown or range mods, and MPL range mods. It looks as though it runs hot, and it definitely does if I alpha, but this is not a build meant to alpha. This is a build meant to adapt to the unpredictability of PUG play. To clarify:
- At 900 - 1200m, I'm only using ERLLs to poke.
- At 500 - 900m, I'm using the ERLLs and LPLs and watching my heat.
- At <500, I stop using the ERLLs entirely, while monitoring heat carefully and bringing LPLs, MPLs and MLs to bear (alternating as necessary). That's still 44 firepower and 4.14 sustained DPS.
- With the 300XL, I have the agility and mobility to position and reposition frequently too.
P.S. Yes, there's AMS, but I believe their necessity is inescapable until the LRM-pocalypse passes.
