Just read this in the patch notes \o/

Reduced the Cooldown for both IS and Clan Gauss from 5.5s to 5.0s.

Great.
More Gauss spam, and less reason to use autocannons.

Doesn't say anything about removing that stupid charge mechanic.

Finally! That .5s CD was absolutely killing the Gauss Rifle as a usable weapon... LOL! OMFG! All Gauss Chariots to the field now! ;)

Easier to swing the nerf bad hard and then rebuff the weapon a little than to nerf it twice.

This will make no practical difference. The slow cooldown timer pretty much turned it into a sniper/support weapon. It will still be relatively useless in a direct role unless its sort of a backup weapon. Most brawls are decided in less then 5 seconds these days anyways.

Personally I never thought Gauss was a problem. Theres much more annoying and imbalanced weaponry in the field.

LOL at the gauss chariots. Brilliant.

Way to go PGI, that's how you make people buy Gauss cooldown modules.

It's still nerfed from what it was before so you don't have to cry too hard about it.

it will definitely make a difference

and gauss is far from useless. what other weapon does 15 damage for 1 heat?

gauss allows assault mechs to use their tonnage to get more firepower that doesnt generate extra heat

Oh please. The gauss explodes and causes damage when it's crit. There is a charge up mechanic. The gauss is far from the monster you perceive it to be. I give your post a C+ SWOL ranking.

That's not exactly "un-nerfed," it's just not nerfed into the ground as hard.

GREAT NEWS, incompetent clammers that clearly can't use any other weapon effectively get their prayers answered through a torrent of tears.

Great news! Out of touch forumwarrior ignores the tears of fellow IS pilots who also felt the burn!

I did not say it was generally useless. I was an avid Gauss user, I loved it and used it in literally all roles, from brawling to sniping to support.

What I was pointing out is that Its role has changed and the .5 second difference won't make it go back to what it was before.

Eh. I still brawl with it. Not as easy, but there are workarounds. My personal fav being grouping to every weapon group that is unused, so when it charges everything goes green. Then you don't need to hear it, just get that visual feedback. Practicing with it constantly also just leads to not even paying attention; you automatically shoot when charged as opposed to having to think about it.

Good idea, but honestly in a brawl, I just hold the gauss group button so it starts charging immediately when ready, then fire of a snap shot when it does, then press the button again to start the charge immediately when the cooldown is over.

Basically I just hold the gauss group button all the time as I'm firing other stuff so there's no delay between shots. It fires as soon as its ready to get optimal DPS.

I have no problem finding my target in the time it takes the gauss to charge.

Get rid of the charge-up or extend the time it holds the charge by 1 second at the very least. Be brave PGI, Battle Tech is the right way to go with the Gauss. MechWarrior is not Duke Nukem or Quake.

It takes up no space, has ammo that won't explode, has near hitscan EZ mode projectiles, and crits better than any weapon. Gauss is OP with anything more than half ac20 DPS.
