For me its probably the best I can do since I only play 20 to 40 matches a month, I am right on that cusp of T3 but its not worth any effort, T2 is 5000 games away, T1 is unreachable regardless of how good or bad I am, for the most part I play as a pug, I will most likely never join a team, I dont care to, I most likely will never drop another dime in the game and listen up PGI, why should I?

You see there is no grind anymore, none, there is no reason to play or pay except for fun, to drop on the field and play against whoever. The very best players of this game play against the very best players of this game and eventually that will kill the game, sorry PGI but I cant give up my life to show up on your servers.

I love this game, I really do, I dont know how to fix it I admit that, the forum warriors probably know how and will show you charts and analogs and expert commentary on how to fix it, they will. They have so much invested into their presence on this game.

So.....anyway, its just what I am thinking about the game at this point 3 or 4 years later, I'm still here, still on the fields.

I dont understand what PGI wants from me. I see your effort and I admire it, its the best MW game ever. But I dont understand what PGI wants from me.

Buy AWS-8R. Equip 4xLRM15. Fill entire free space and tonnage with ammo. I gained 50% of Tier 3 in a matter of just 30 games. Problem solved.

You do understand the ranking is a skill balance utility to ensure your games are "Fair", right? It's not progression.

Tier isn't the same as Level, it's just matchmaking weight. Unless you want to be a pro MLG gamer dood, you shouldn't sweat it too hard. If your current play habits land you at Tier 4 then you're a Tier 4, there's nothing objectively wrong with that. Hell, to hear it told by some of ther Tier 1 and 2s on this board, the higher Tiers are actually less enjoyable than the lower ones.

I dont see the need to advance in Tier. Maybe i miss something? Posted Image

Having played in T4, T3 and T2 I would the the most fun games were T4 - I got the impression that it had an "anything goes" atmosphere.

T3 was like a box of chocolates

T2 is where it starts to get unforgiving and its time to up your game.

Whilst I enjoyed T4, it was a bit too "clubby" for me.

Now Im in T2, Im getting clubbed, but Im trying to learn from each blow that lands and enjoy the challenge.

Dont be in a hurry to up you Tier because each one offers a different general experience.

I like T4, I was T5 and it was way to easy, I'm not looking forward to T3 though, about 2/5 into T4 at mo.

Tier 4 is so fun. I played like 5 matches the other day on a friend's account and I ran around gleefully crushing people in an arctic cheetah.

lower teirs for me are enjoyable because you will occasionally run into that one person who is very good but is bord and breaks out the old mechs and completely ruins your day. (6 srm6 cat) (9 erppc totting self destruct button) (4erppc 3 srm6 ac/20 atlas)

teir 4 is best good mix of good players and not so good players running some meta to what i mentioned above earlier.

teir 1-2 is try hard no life territory

teir 3 is good players that like to win

teir 4 is good players that like to win if possible but they also like fun (hense those stupid builds i mentioned)

teir 5 is kiddo learnin territory

Why do you care?

The tiers are for balance purposes only. They're not really skill based (it's a combination of skill and number of games played aka experience) and there's no "reward" for being in a different tier.

So... why care? I basically pay no attention to my tier because it doesn't mean anything. It's just a tool that the matchmaker uses to (try to) create more balanced matches.

To reiterate what others have said, the tier bar essentially shows what difficulty level you're playing on. Playing regularly does influence it a bit, but it is mostly just a balance mechanic. If it bothers you to have something that resembles a progress bar, you can hide it on the home page!
