I've gotten 600 and 700 damage games with the Shadowcats when I was mastering them. That said, you're right OP, they are super undergunned. (unless you want to be very hot.)
My most successful builds were 2LPL on the rigth side, and 1 PPC + 1 erML. Yes. that's not a whole lot. I basically had to shoot at anything that moved the entire round and use MASC + Jumpjets to peek and poptart as much as I could.

I tried the dual PPC build, it was way too hot so i swapped out for 2 LPL and then 1 LPL + 2 MPL. Works a charm now, its like a 6 ML blackjack or hunchy with ECM, JJ, better engine and longer range.
Rule 1 of sub 70 ton applies though: If the enemy is looking at you you done messed up.

I've had 400-600dmg matches in my SHC-P with my ridiculous 6 machine gun and couple lasers build. Running such a heavy weapon on such a light mech is kinda... not necessarily the best use of its tonnage.

They look like pretty mediocre stats to me.
My Hunch already has 3 times as many matches, even though it's so much newer. That's because it's fun to use, and not a masochistic ride.
The SadCat is a sad robot, as is the Ice Fridge. SadCat is a touch above the Vindicator...which isn't saying much.
A mediocre robot, through and through.
20% duration could make it shine.

I haven't been able to make use of gauss on the Shadowcat at all. Not enough tonnage on the mech with the hardlocked JJs and MASC.
I've had good results with 1 CLPL\2 ERML and 2 CLPL\3 CMG, playing as a skirmisher. MASC gives the mech a decent agility boost, so you can zip in and out of cover between shots.
It's certainly not a Blackjack or a Stormcrow and shouldn't be played like one.
