My favorite weight. No reason it should be an issue. After all, we have several "meta" 65 tonners, which weight wise are no more optimal.

The second that I hopped in the Warhammer, it hit me like a cold wave of bad: The Whammy is a 5 ton heavier Thunderbolt. So, the question that I had to ask myself is "What is the point?" Well, the point is that the Warhammer was my baby many many years ago and, while not the best thing ever, it still fulfills what I wanted. The low slung arms suck, the 3 combined hard point types make things somewhat problematic to make a solid build that is still Warhammer like, and it drives like an 18 wheeler stuck in mud. But, it is still the Warhammer and it makes me happy as all get out that I finally have it. When I read that the "unseens" weren't going to make it into MWO a long time ago, it kind of broke my heart. Fast forward 2+ years and we've almost got all of them. Who cares if it isn't meta worthy? The truth is that most of the meta mechs weren't the meta mechs before and the only thing that is making them meta mechs is the continued semi-broken functionality of laser spamming. Shift the high hard points of the current power mechs down to midtorso or at the waste and what do you have? I know what I have - I have the Warhammer and it makes me extremely happy.

I am glad that someone likes it. I am done with this piece of crap. Not even bothering to finish mastering it. I play games to have fun, not lose stand up fights with shadow cats and Novas who don't even bother to dodge. There is no excuse for this piece of crap to lose a stand up fight with a mech that sports half the armor.

Mine too... That said, I don't expect it to tank any more than an equivalent mech.

I think the quirked T-Bolt and other structure quirked mechs has irreparably tainted the communities perception of what a 70 ton mech should tank. Posted Image

I can think of one , the pilot. I kill things just fine , so unless the people you are fighting are just amazing at this game I don't know what to tell you.

It's a long ranger, but it can do that well. A little awkward at close range too.

It just isn't very light on its feet which does cause problems. And, when you build it, you've got to decide in which direction you're going to go which will, in the end, dictate how fast you go and how much survivability you have in it. I don't recommend XLs in it, that is for sure. That has the side effect of limiting your ballistic load out. Dual Gausshammers don't much impress me and any other ballistic+energy build tells me that you should have saved your money and just bought a Cataphract with cbills.

I may be biased because I'm a light mech driver- I bought the Warhammer because I'm a TT player from the 80's who loved all the macross style mechs- but I love it. It is probably one of my favorite mechs. I have never felt so mighty as when I stroll across the field in this thing and swat just about anything of comparable weight down. I run 2 LG Pulse, 6 Med Pulse on one build, and 3 LRM 10's and 6 MLs on another, and I can consistently say I'm competitive.

Of course I'm newer to MWO (though not Mechwarrior games in general) and this mech more than others has forced me to really learn to torso twist and tank the damage on my arms, but that bothers me not at all...

I think the main problem of the Warhammer is they 're trying to quirk it for PPCs when there is no way, not even with quirked PPCs, that they're better than Large Pulse Lasers. Running it with lasers though, its not any better than a Thunderbolt or even a Black Knight.

As a PPC shooter, one of the Marauders does a better job at it.

I have so say, I have never been so disappointed in a mech since I started playing two years ago. This mech seems to have a very squishy torso which precludes the use of any XL engines. It also seems to suffer from rather severe heat problems. Finally, I can't seem to find a good loadout for it. All the energy based loadouts seem to cause too much heat and I spend more time battling shutdown than the enemy. And I tried some ballistic/SRM based loadouts and those have been less than impressive as well.

Has anyone really found a build that can handle a heavy mech role for these mechs? I was really excited for the black widow but am pretty bummed I can't seem to get the damage counts with it at I am used to. I find myself fighting it more like a medium than a heavy... hiding and sniping, then hiding to wait for my heat to go down. heaven forbid I get into a furball. Any help and advice is appreciated... I was thinking of switching from Clan to IS and using this as one of my main drop mechs, but as it stands I am pretty close to selling them off for Cbills and buying the Marauder or something else.

Sincerely, a rather disappointed veteran Heavy/Assault Mech Pilot.

the marauder is definitely superior, feels like playing a fast stalker, and the good one at that (misery, not the lrm ones)

warhammer in it's current state. well its not terrible, but its something that i'm going to level and then forget about. It feels like an awesome in disguise, with a soft ct.

Another reason why I think the Marauder is better is because it allows for multiple energy points in the arms. On the Warhammer is usually one or two points, or one arm with two points and the other arms with one point, the rest of the hard points being on the torso. The advantage of having weapons on the arms is that arm pointed weapons can aim faster and with greater precision and faster convergence as compared to torso weapons which requires the entire torso to move.

If you think this mech is bad, you're the problem. The Warhammer is as its name describes a hammer. This mech vastly surpassed my expectations on release. Great hardpoints, solid structure and weapon quirks, and honestly good fat arms. The 6R/7S/6D and even the BW are all very good variants in their own rights. I have very little problems breaking 600+ damage a game in these beasts. I don't care for the mini-mauler Black widow variant too much but its still extremely powerful.

Torso-twisting is your friend in this mech. Along with raising your arms as you twist, kinda like a boxer. All variants can fit a XL340 and full armaments to boot, putting them at a agile 84.6ish kph. I see nothing wrong with this mech as a fresh release. In the future they could look at maybe tweeking the size of the CT down some, but even then just a whee bit. And I'm being completely nit-picky with that.

I was initially a little upset about the mech but I've played practically nothing else since it was released and found my groove over the weekend. Despite not having elited a single variant I've found builds I enjoy and my games have improved by a large margin.

Weirdly, my gripes with the mech were never related to how it tanked damage.

Wow, how opinions can differ,... I find the WHM a seriously strong heavy. Better than the BL-X-KNT when it came out. Lots of firepower, very tanky, fairly mobile and generally good hardpoint placement.

Some loadout suggestions:
BW - https://www.mechspec...mg-xl340.10455/
6D - https://www.mechspec...ms-xl340.10454/
6R - https://www.mechspec...l-std300.10451/
7S - https://www.mechspec...ap-xl300.10517/

*EDIT - I nearly forgot. The 6R PPC quirks are out of this world! Posted Image

The low ape arms really hamper the chassis. You have to expose just about everything but the feet to get a shot off with the arms. And if you need to shoot uphill? Forget about it.
