Curious - I know there was talk a while back, but I'm looking for any of the threads with amusing stories and videos sharing their journey from T5 up ;-)

I didn't find any w/ the forum search, but the forum search isn't the best.

I started an alt account for a dragoon unit to do IS CW under the CWDG banner.

I just finished cadet bonus last night, and, no kidding, at match #9-10 into cadet bonus, I was already in tier 3. Currently close to half way to T2 on that account.

Bleh, I wish I could have started my alt IS account at tier 5. I've managed to get it to tier 3 just running events, and I gotta tell you, hitting tier 3 was like turning off the 'fun' switch. It's amazing what a difference what one tier up from 4 makes, and not in a good way. I miss you tier 4

What changes have you noticed ?

I have reach tier 2 several days ago and i see no differences at all...

The TTK me on average has dropped quite a bit. In tier 4 I could be a rampaging monster in my Mauler for most if not the entire game, but now I'm lucky if I take out 1 or 2 of the enemy before I get CT cored.

And woe betide me if I try going out in one of my Dragons. Multiple sub 100 damage games in that bloody thing before I die a horrible mangled death. I might as well have wrapped myself in tinfoil and put a big target on my chest.

My Cicadas, which previously I could at least sometimes pull off mediocre results now often meet an untimely demise about 3 minutes in. My Shadowhawks aren't fairing much better, and I haven't even dared bring out my Wyverns.

You guys are talking about on your primary, not about creating a fresh new account at T5 and cataloging the experience, from a T1/2 perspective ... right?

When you hit Tier 3 it really become the "PUG lottery". If you wind up on a team with several new Tier 5 players, a couple of new(ish) Tier 4 players and 1-2 Tier 3 players, and you have the unfortunate luck of running into mostly Tier 3 players who have been playing for a while, you're going to get roflstomped quite often and there's literally nothing you, as an individual player, can do to stop it, mitigate it, or prevent it.

You can try to offer some coordination on VOIP, but if the 11 other people on your team ignore it, you're pretty well screwed. It happens more commonly in Tier 3 because you more commonly run into teams like this at Tier 3 due to the +-2 nature of the tier matching system.

Then on the other side of that, you can easily wind up with a large group of half-way decent Tier 3 players going up against a team of Tier 1-3 players who use a lot of coordination and teamwork.

Tier 3 is a beast of a tier and you get the worst of both sides of the tier system sometimes.

My K/D ratio has gone from .92 to .87 since the PSR started

Once I hit tier 2 the rage try hards start telling you how you suck or whatever "what are you doing over there"

Or "that was a bad plan"

I now say don’t follow me

The biggest problem is when you log on you seemed to be slated as cannon fodder and the first 4 drops are auto losses/roll stomps

When I do win or stay alive I quickly log off so I can enjoy the success

but when these guys started the run, they started 3/4 T4 iirc instead of top of T5.

Getting out of T4 made it less fun because I wasn't putting down 800-1200 dmg games on the regular I guess.

I am talking about an alt account specifically.

This account never saw T5, when PGI dropped the PSR on us I was barely playing at all and this account was 1 shade shy of T2

My main account? Yes...the T3 bar was literally a hair shy of T2 when PSR dropped.

The new account I started? No...that one started at T5 and 9-10 matches later was in T3.

Sounds pretty good, there's 11 other guys in your team and they all want the same thing you do.

The other 12 on the other team are not being reasonable either and they fight back.

Well, thankfully so...though...considering the experience I have in MWO, I would expect that. New players should not be able to get out of T5 and into T3 in 10 matches though.

Well it kinda works both ways. It's pretty hard to drop PSr though, I tried.

In one alt I was doing 0 enemy dmg and as much team dmg I could get away with, but I only got the bar to go to like 1/5th from T4. Once you are out of the seeding games, like first 10 or something at my guess, then you can chill in T5 for a couple play sessions and the bar moves normally. But obviously pretty quick if you play normally, because it's hard to not break 1k dmg every game with a trial TDR.

I just checked his twitch. Looks like he's about 2/3rds through Tier 2 after playing it for about 30 days.
