I understand that the Six small pulse Locust 1E will most likely be chosen, but this is the build I have the most fun in, and thus I offer my contender.

LCT-3S

1xsl
4xsrm 2
XL190
Locust Armour Theory

Edited due to compatibility with further locust Chassis design as per Ovion's suggestions. It may not be true to my build considerations, but this is not for me. Thank you.

~Leone.

More range than the standard 6ML or 6SPL Locust, the LCT-1V seems like a good choice, even more so given the current quirks.

Med Laser LCT-1E

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e340f5345a9ea00

normally id be suggesting the 6xML version but that might be a bit hot for new players and overheating in a locust...

My favorite build is a six tag laser build. Now Before you go knocking my amazing build hear me out. Not only do tag lasers mark your enemies but they have no cool down to speak of. you can just keep the heat on them! also they deal no damage to your teammates! they are super strong and have better range then medium lasers. needless to say this is by far the best loadout, out of all these chumps.

+1
It will run hot with 5ML already.
Locust-Fu takes dedication and training.

XL 180 is chosen as it's still blazing fast, but gives an extra half a tonne of ammo. And yes, it doesn't subscribe to normal locust armour theory due to weapons in the arms, and being built for newbies who might be worried when they see a complete lack of head armour.

LCT-3S

Thank you.

~Leone.
The thing is,giving it a 180xl means you still have to get a 190xl, and a Champion should really help out as much as possible for the mech, and the mechs as a whole.

Also, you you get bonus arm armour, which combined with usually tiny hitboxes, is why you can afford to run 5 usually.

Locust-1V
1x ERLL & 4 MGs
This only has 8 heat sinks.

I'm going to have to put each build seperately aren't I?

Besides the hero variant this is probably my favorite setup, it can run a bit hot at times so it requires some trigger discipline. Also its fun to run dual AMS.

My current favorite build on my locusts is for the LCT-3M. Heat is not too much of an issue for me and the BAP helps with the ECM countering as well as finding the pesky last mech that has shut down to wait out the timer. and losing the arms does not leave you totally useless.

2MPL, 2SRM2 LCT-1M
Those who know me and know locusts know why the armour is how it is.
This is about as optimised as you can make a Locust, and provides you with the XL190 the mech as a whole desperately needs.
I realise this build won't be for everyone, but it's my personal favourite.

6 SPl Build with Max Engine. Just the most fearsome Locust there is.

The one I use LCT-3S Recent SRM buffs made it really powerful. It only lacks ammo a little bit.

Keep shredding those direwolves...

6SPL, AMS LCT-1E
This is a classic, that will always be in style regardless of quirks.
Again, Locust Armour Theory standard for optimisation.

As an alt you could go 6SPL LCT-1E may be more palatable.

MPL, 4MG LCT-1V
This follows the standard of the 'base variant' being the Champion, with the classic standard of an MPL and 4MGs.
Again, Locust Armour Theory standard for optimisation.

Correct, but you have too much back armor and you should be using DHS to crit pad your lasers.

ERLL, 2MG LCT-1V
As above, this follows the standard of the 'base variant' being the Champion, with the new standard of an ERLL and 2MGs.
Again, Locust Armour Theory standard for optimisation.
