So I unlocked my master slot in the skills can i put a third ERLL on my Raven 3L?

Apparently I can but i would have to drop to an XL 220 from a 255. Hmmm is it worth it?

Unlocking the master slot unlocks another module slot that can be used for weapon or mech modules.

Weapon modules are not extra weapons, they're equipment that enhance your weapon once they're unlocked and purchased, and equipped in the proper slot.

While this statement is true, it ignores the fact that the Raven 3L does have 3 energy slots. Two in the right arm and 1 in the right torso.

To original poster, I would suggest sticking with just two ERLL. Three adds more heat generation which the raven is not able to equip enough heatsinks to cope with. Stick with two lasers and fire more often.

If you want 3(ER)LL on a RVN, you want the 2X. It has the heat management quirk and other laser quirks to pull it off. Looks like this.

Chain fire is your 3ERLL friend!

Set mouse 1 to alpha all, and set chain 2 for all.

NO!
If you mounted a 3rd laser it's because you needed the alpha strike. If you're looking for sustained DPS when overheating, mount only 2 and more DHS (when hot, your DPS is directly dependant of your DHS count, not of your weaponry).

@OP: there is absolutely no connection between unlocking the master slot and being able to mount a particular loadout. You have 3 energy hardpoints, you can.
(even if like Terciel already said, for 3 LLas the 2X is actually better, thank to a heat generation quirk)

DHS outside the engine does not have x2 efficiency, just only x1.4.

If you like ER LL Raven then you might like the Cicada. Cicada A and Hero get NICE range quirks.

Set mouse 1 to alpha all, and set chain 2 for all.

Hum I thought I said set the mouse up to fire both, and I did. So thank you for your reply but it makes no sense as I agreed with the alpha strike and gave an option to allow chain fire for times you need/ required to do so.

No!

Alpha till you're hot, get cool, alpha more.

Chainfire is a noob trap, plain and simple.

Full disclosure: I set mine up 2&1 in case of emergencies, but alpha 99% of the time.

To be more precise, you only chain fire when no one is looking your way and you are hot.

The benefit of alpha is short exposure time and aiming once and shortly in comparison to chaining, but it's very good to start chaining after you reach the heat cap if you aren't trading damage.

As the target might not show it's self again to you for a length of time meaning you are losing dps while waiting to cool off to alpha, but it's good to start chaining if no one is looking your way, not just the target you are shooting at, but any of his friends too. If you take return fire , more so a lot of it it was not worth it, if you can position well and are not the only target or the one being focused it will indeed be worth it.

sigh once again I am showing two mouse set ups to allow the player to do either as the game dictates!Posted Image

Alpha as much as possible when able BUT heat and Atlas right in front of you might say nope chain and run!Posted Image

Do you actually understand that I am NOT against alpha? Are you bothering to read the comments so far, or just replying and not reading?Posted Image

It's a question of emphasis. You led with "Chain fire is your 3ERLL friend!" It would literally be better for new players to not know chainfire exists since what it mostly does is breed terrible habits.

not having a Raven i dont know how many module slots you have , but instead of adding a 3rd laser you could use a cooldown module to fire the 2 faster , or drop to reg LL and use the extended range module to lower the heat and get back some of the range you lost going ER to regular.remember for modules you will need gxp to purchase the ability (they are in steps of 1-5) and cbills to buy the actual module.(the 1 module will work on all 5 steps) remember your speed is part of your defense , you dont want to alpha, shutdown, alpha, shutdown...

lower in this link http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ght_innersphere
quirks for all mechs are listed that will help you decide what weapons might be better suited for different mechs.

also purchased modules can be moved from 1 mech to another between matches so you dont need to buy more than 1 of any module type this early in the game.
