I've tried the 3xAC5, 2ml, and the 4xlpl's builds. I would have to say it's fun to annoy people with the AC's, but it's lacking in firepower. The lpl's build is decent, and with the mechs durability it does decent damage. It's definitely not my favorite variant though.

Mine is an ace performer.
300std
Endo
DHS
AC20
4MPL or 2LL and 2ML
Ammo (3 tons min) and heat sinks
Put seismic on it and have a ball. The pinpoint damage is great. It rolls damage like a champ and nobody can deny a couple 44 point pinpoint alphas.

Still wondering why it has a BAP...

To each their own, but I like my MAD-3R more than my TBR
I run a variation of the 3xAC5+2ML on a 270STD. Use that left torso to absorb damage and nurse the RT, but it's great for long range engagements. Put your AC5s in three groups--all three, top two, top one--so you can hill hump without pumping ammo into the dirt. Take pot shots with grouped fire, then switch to sequential fire to lay down covering fire--or especially if you want to close and intimidate the opposition (which works in my tier, maybe not yours).
But if you're trying to brawl in it like in an NxCML EBJ or TBR, then yeah, probably won't work so well.
I run the AC/20 on the -5M, where I can use the JJ to maneuver in close. I found that the -3R lacked the mobility to really abuse that weapon.

Sorry for this e-peen post, but the MAD-3R is a VERY capable mech. Let the screens speak for themselves.
Build: STD 275, 2 LB10x, 4 ML

My only problem with this build is it rewards you for missing.
the lbx is such a scatter shot, that with this scoring system being so broken you actually rack up the points.
kill something quickly and efficiently, and no.
