Its okay, the Mauler actually seems to have pretty decent hitboxes so, it has that going for it. But it also got some HUGE XXL shoulder pads to go with it.

Just think of it as the Ghost Bear intimidating the Draconis Combine. The Kodiak is wearing the armor of it's dead victims (and a good IS assault at that) to strike fear into it's opponents.

The claws, the sinister head, and the corpse of it's victim hanging around it's neck. Just purely menacing!

Sort of like how sometimes people wear clothing made from bears, such as bear hats?



Maybe that's why Alex made the Kodiak's bear head look like a hat...

Actually, the claws are canonically ornamental.

But this is basically the Clan Atlas, especially since it can change up the engine. The 400XL + MASC doesn't have to stay 400-rated any more than the Banshee has to keep it's bloated power plant, as this isn't an Omni.

Pleasantly surprised they released the art today, instead of later in the week. Logged into FB and thought, "Nah, there won't be anything." Courtesy of The B33f, the Kodiak concept art was at the top of my news feed lol.

Fond memories of this mech from both MW2: GBL and Mercs. Anyone else remember the mission where the Draconis Combine hires you to steal this mech? Nostalgia is tugging upon the heart and wallet.

yes the kodiak is a battlemech. it is NOT an omnimech.

Save for the Atlas IIC existing. This makes me think of a clan Atlas. Looks mean as hell.
