Removal Of Clan Quirks Means The Orion / Timberwolf And The Stormcrow / Shadowhawk Are Balanced! Right?

Or Blackjacks against Ferrets/Shadowcats?
i get the rage, I get that I'm not supposed to have any sort of balance opinion anymore. But come on, man. Even within your own faction, how're them Trebuchets looking against the ol' Hunchers?
I miss my Trebs. Really enjoyed them back in the day. Doesn't mean you don't need something like four and a half Trebuchets to match one (modern) Hunchback these days. As for Orions against Timber Wolves...c'mon, dude. We all knew Orions were going to blow. They have crappy hardpoints in crappy spots and assault 'Mech hitboxes. There's not a lot Piranha can do to salvage the poor things outside SuperMegaUltraQuirks, which the company is (thankfully) looking to finally try and get away from a little bit.
Is the Orion entitled to some respectable durability quirks, what with being a 'mini-Atlas', in order to give it a niche next to the Black Knight's platoons of energy hardpoints and the Marauder's excellent geometry/hardpoints? Sure, I'd say so. But lemme ask this: how hard do you want the Timber Wolf murdernerfed, if it's supposed to be balanced and competitive with a stock, quirk-free ORION?

I wouldn't go so far as to say the timberwolf outperforms every other heavy mech, it does sit fairly high up the list though.

yup, lets make everything the same size, same tonnage and cost, remove all variance in mechs......
the timby cost 14mil plus, is shaped like a huge barn door on stilts, has limited slot numbers to utilize for fitout, it has a tight and slow moving torso turn rate making it harder to twist for arm blocking which is pointless anyways sometimes due to its barn door shape and narrow arm shield of side torso. Oh and it overheats like a ***** if your not careful, and lets not forget that front center torso that hangs right out ready for hits from a side profile due to how low the arms are. All of this makes it more fragile than people give it credit for and its a lot more like a huge and heavy scalpel made of glass that your trying to use to pop a pimple.
every mech has strengths and weaknesses......
so yeah, lets make em all the same, the same cost, the same space and options for loadout etc. makes total sense.

Yeah that's the best way to balance so PGI could save resources to make more Mech packs and the important SP campaign.

Dude he wants clans straight up removed from the game. Mechregsurn and his ilk will not rest until the game is rolled back to tech 1 3025 IS only stock with no mech lab.
Despite the fact that not even THAT would be balanced, its never going to happen in MWO. MWO just isn't that game. It never was, and it never will be.

Keep in mind that I suck, and that I like AC's more than lasers, and like to get in close so I can actually hit at what I aim at without using silly advanced zoom that gives me a headache.
But for casual average-bad but experienced pugs the mech balance isn't far off. I don't think this balance pass is going to really make a difference.

DJ Kint:
Ew, what's that smell?
It's the Crow cheese that it does so well,
No skill streaks or laser *****
Playing you is a bore,
EZ mode engage, number one,
You're the mech the noobs fall back on.
VS
Crow-pleasa!
Kinta-who? I'm scratching my head,
You the scrap heap that's always dead?
You the tickler with your fives,
Only killing those in the underhive,
I could go on but wait!
My bladder's full and I can't hold it,
So come here, Boy, and I'll make you Golden.
Who won? You decide.
Epi.. epi.. EPIC mech battles of history...y..y..y

The Orion isn't balanced against the Marauder or the Black Knight either - it's more about the Orion than it is about other mechs.

Right?
Are these Mechs balanced now?
Probably not, but they are a lot more balanced than they were when the negative quirks were implemented due to the general buffs to IS and nerfs to clan that has been done since then (which I consider a good thing for the most part)
It's ok I guess for some chassis to be good by virtue simply of good design, and it's a little weird to have them artificially toned down. At the same time we can't have mechs dominating high level play too much. I don't know if they will be balanced or cause major problems, but they can always be toned down again later. I do suspect they will become a little over the top again.
