I'd like to chime in and say that I think that the price is fair. For $20, you get 3 variants and aren't having to buy a huge 4-mech pack to get the assault. Everything else beyond this ($15 for 66% more, $15 for a hero - cheaper than MC) is a bonus offering.

Everything you need to master the Kodiak for $20.

actually its a Quad Streak 6 build on the Hero. 3 in the Left Torso and 1 in the center. So 48 points of short range streak brawling.

Oh hell, really? Nice! My eyes glazed over and I just sort of assumed the same centerline laser as the rest of the Kodiaks. That's actually a big argument in favor of taking a chance on the Spirit Bear; Quack/20 with four SRM launchers and cLPLs w/M.A.S.C. could be hella fun. Certainly beats the pants off anything I've been able to do on the Vexecutioner.

You aren't. You're paying $20 for an (S) variant, 3x the tchotchkes, and an extra month of Premium time. The Premium time is worth ~$12 by itself (if you assign any value to Premium time at all), and the extra Warhorns are worth a couple of bucks each.

In reality, the (S) variant caters to a specific market that likes tchotchkes and +30% c-bills. For them, it's a really good deal because the Mech itself is basically free.

Ehhh...true, I suppose. It just feels icky, when you don't actually get anything for your extra twenty bucks. I'd rather a simple upgrade for the Standard pack, like everything else, that pumps your KDK-1 up to a KDK-1(S), with tchotchkes and stuff for, like, ten bucks instead of charging me an extra twenty and saying "you get an extra 'Mech!" Let's face it, everybody and their mother is going to sell the KDK-1 if they go in for the KDK-1(S).

Still, you do have a point. And unlike all-or-nothing Mega Quad Packs, you do get to pick whether or not the swag is worth your dollars. So still a step forward, I suppose...even if it only really feels that way because Piranha's normal cash shop pricing is so catastrophically awful.

True enough, and on that point I agree with you. I'd much prefer the "Collector" pack be, say, $15 more than the standard and simply replace the KDK-1 with a KDK-1(S).

I have a couple of redundant non-(S) variants at this point... they just sit there in their drab green paint jobs looking sad. It hadn't occurred to me to sell them because I have >200M c-bills on hand, but I suppose I could if I got desperate. I'd have rather saved the $5 or $10 and not gotten them in the first place.

I do like my (S) variants, though. Especially the Marauder, because I think the R(S) is the best variant. 3 x AC/5, 2 x PPC is a bit of a beast.

Basic Pack is $20USD. For approximately the same amount, I can get ONE Tier VIII Medium Tank in World of Tanks, or two thirds of a Tier VII Cruiser in World of Warships. Neither of which come with ALL TEH EXTRA STUFFS!

So, by comparison, MWO prices are in-line with those of other similar game models. (Not comparing the games themselves, just the pricing models).

To be fair, I'm probably not gonna get the whole set. But I am definitely considering the Basic Pack with Hero upgrade. That's what, $35? 4 Chassis plus all the bling, compared to One WoT Chassis.

Mind you, for me this is a worthwhile deal, as I don't have the time to grind the 20,000,000 Cbills it's likely to cost (Clan 400XL, Clan DHS, and Clan Endo Stock) PER CHASSIS.

Sadly, enough people will drop money on this that PGI will feel it's appropriate, and even sadder...it will be.

Just not for me. I struggle to find value in digital robots that cost as much or more than a AAA title and really add little to the overall experience (monotony, rinse lather repeat).

The only saving grace these days is I play infrequently so it's not as repetitive at times.

It's fine. People who want to buy it will buy it, people who don't want will not. Customers vote with their wallet, it's the only language that matters except for Twitter.

The weird thing is that the 'market' is now flooded with mechs, as the game has hundreds of 'em, and arguably more mechs than any sane person would ever manage to master, let alone really get familiar with. I fully expect that MWO will be shut down and turned into a distant memory long before I ever get around to trying mechs like the Panther, the Crab, the Executioner, etc. I have never played them at all, and I'm perfectly comfortable that I never will.

But even though the market is flooded with C-bill mechs, PGI is actually getting people to pay more per chassis. It's fascinating.

Standard pack 20$ is like having few beers at the night club, so if you enjoy the game skip one night and you have many hours or days enjoyment piloting one iconic mech.

I don't see any reason why anyone should complain about the top end price. If $70 is too much for you then stick with the regular $20/$40/+$15/Don't-buy-wait-for-cbills or just keep sitting under that apple tree and wait for the fruit to drop into your open mouth.

Unfrotunately due to weight its a UAC 10 not a UAC 20 on the Spirit Bear. Also you would be hard pressed to find the weight for 2 LPLs considering it only has 2 ER Meds by default. Only options are to reduce engine size or remove Heat Sinks.

$20 for 3 variants and nothing else is very reasonable. Quite frankly, if every mech in the game could bought in such a fashion - 3 packs for $20 - they'd probably be making a fortune.

The current system, unfortunately, is less conducive to people spending money outside of pre-ordering the mech they've always wanted. The big packages often leave you with mechs you may not want, and Mastery Packs are only available for a tiny percentage of all available mechs. It would be nice to see more ways to encourage people to just thrown down the cash, get the 3 mechs of whatever type they need, and be done with it since, quite frankly, unless you have infinite time or only buy absurdly cheap mechs (and don't upgrade them), it is far more cost / time efficient to spend the $20 than it is to grind to the cbills.

If I were normally a clan pilot, or wasn't a totally ****** assault pilot, I would be all over the $20 or the $35 option. The best variants at a glance are in those, you get the usual bells and whistles for the recent single mech packs, but you are getting 3 assault chassis for $20 and an assault hero for $15 (what a steal when compared to most of the other assault heroes).

Now you get a few more bells and whistles for adding $20 more plus another assault hero if you want, but I'm not always convinced it is worth it then, yeah the extra premium time is nice, but the extra copy of a variant with the hero bonus isn't always my cup of tea. I prefer to get the $20 pack and if I like the variant that gets the special I'll grab it post-release.

The $15 for the 2 extra regular variants isn't so bad, but neither of them appeals to me, I don't as a general rule like missile hardpoints in my arms, especially not split between the arms on a larger mech, and the laser vomit one has too many hardpoints to be really workable with ghostheat on clan lasers. However they might appeal to some and the price isn't too bad if you really like variety.

Now as to comparing $50 for 6 mechs to a new game, I have played far more MWO and longer than I normally play any sort of single player game. So the values have to be adjusted for that. I played once through fallout 3 for example, and they charged me extra to get the whole game in the end. Occasionally I'll pop it back in to split mutant heads, but it just doesn't hold my interest the way a game like MWO does.

Good god there are some whiny brats who complain over anything.

It's your own decision to say you "must" have all variants , otherwise 20 bucks for 3 assaults , all the early adopter awards etc is a great deal.

I'm getting the Collector and Hero , no need for reinforcements , because that's what I want.

It just seems in the past decade or so that some have began to think they had some "right" to determine what the correct prices are for something. I just don't remember this much whining or bitching in the 70's and 80's and even 90's.

I didn't walk into a gameshop in the 80's or 90's and say , hey , you can't charge X amount for this book , or that figure or that set. It's not right. I want it for half that price.

Because if I had they would have laughed at me at best , shuffled me out the door at the same time.

But now , the whine is amazing with some who think they have some PhD in what everything is worth.

I do get a nice additional bonus buying these packs (and likely will gift a few, again) , knowing it aggravates those who crusade against what a company can or cannot charge.

Let's remember that with 80 bucks you could buy origin early adopter: 4 different chassis and 16 mechs.

now 70 dollah....1 chassis and 7 mechs.
