its all relative...$14 back then was alot more then it is now.
WoW maybe, games in the 2000s like Warcraft 3 and the original Starcraft were only the 50 and then 30-40 for the expansion. MMOs (which this really isn't) were some of the only ones to go with subscription costs.
Starcraft was 1993

and knows what they can ask for nostalgia (also based on the unseen "packs")
could it be better?
sure (I'd rather have MC instead of premium time, could buy a day or 7 with it when I need it, not a month)
do I understand?
yeah
also
you want shiny new, right now?
well its a f2p title, how you think they milk the customer?
some people were asking to make PGI sell other stuff (custom hangar, more customization, custom geo,...) those haven't caught on yet, or fallen out of favor like custom geo
at least those mechs you can buy relatively soon for MC and C-Bill later
I remember getting my Timber way more earlier than for C-Bills (was it a year?)
also in this whole thread there's what, 10 to 15 people not liking the price?
on a whole not that many that felt the need to come here and vent

Anything above 20$ is optional, and that already gives you 3 great clan 100 tonners.

Inflation didn't get that high though to where you have to pay double for around the same value.

I see 300 tons of mechs for 20$. Don't know what all the pants-on-head ******* are looking at... that's a pretty bloody good deal compared to literally everything that has come before it. Don't wanna pay more? Don't.

20$ for the basic pack is very good
its the additional 20$ for a re-skin that is ridiculous.

Ridiculous is the 100 dollars it takes to take the wife and two kids to a movie on a Friday night. That's just the movie , not the dinner either.
We do it because we want to , everyone does things with their own money that others would find ridiculous.
When did it become a need for others to tell others what they should or shouldn't buy based on personal value to them.
I guarantee every whiner in this thread has something in their possession they spent money on that most of the population wouldn't want for free , much less spend money on the item.
But keep on bitching , it's just an added bonus to the packs for those who buy them to get some virtual tears as a bonus.

We were going to go to a nice italian place after, but turns out that'd be £75-100 on top, so we'll have a candlelit take-away pizza instead... which will still be £20+

And here you have $50 for 6 variants, which is $8.30ish without considering any bonuses.

FYI as free2play you will never have enough mech bays. I hope you enjoy selling mechs @a fraction of the cost.
CW rewards give Mechbays
Events tend to give Mecbays.
IS trials are decent to farm the above.
Im sitting on 20 open mechbays and ive only spent @$200 since 2014.
RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PLAY/BUY, EZ PZ

Which is fair for the most part (for PGI, not overall), it is still uneven because the more you spend should get you more bang for you buck, not less (the best value is still the standard pack), but still the collector's edition portion is ridiculous and has been since the Urbz.

Dude... please
I don't think i should tell you how much money i have spent on MWO. So save your breath reminding me why we buy pixel robots.
The thing i don't get with some of you people is that why don't you want a better deal?
If the whining can add a few extra bits here and there to the deal, then why the F* not.
I'll keep bitching for a better collector's deal ( i already have the standard). if the bitching can add some more extra things to the deal, then i will expect you not to buy it, ok?

Every last one of these things has a 400XL, endo steel, and double heatsinks.
These babies will not be cheap when they come out for C-bills.
Just keep that in mind.

Some people want that BMW 5series for Ford Escort prices.
Some want Chipotle burritos for a dollar menu like McDonalds.
Some want to be paid $20/hr instead of $8.
Some want to be good at stuff without paying their dues.

Wrong, the supply of digital products is limited by the labor required, and is even further limited by digital distribution costs. Supply and demand is NOT related to whether or not a product is physically tangible, that is an archaic ideal that poisons rational thought in the digital age.

Because they already see enough value?
IMO i can care less about some title or cockpit item that PGI forced an employee to bang out on a Friday night cuz the Packs werent padded enough with 'free sh*t'.
300 tons of clan tech for $20 +3 bays + Premium is damn skippy to me. A Clan 100 tonner not shaped like a box without gorilla arms seems to have a bright future for that 20 spot.
Camo/paint is nice but i literally dont want anything other than the above.
