Played a whole bunch, leveled things I'd been avoiding (and got much better with them in the process), enjoyed myself immensely, converted 25k xp. I think I actually got more out of this event than many other previously, in terms of re-engagement with the game, getting better, and enjoying myself.
Some of the arguments over whether the conversions are worth it seem silly:

[...]

If on the other hand someone interpreted the table as 'you should now play as much as you can and then spend MC just to get these rewards', then that seems to be a misunderstanding of what this event was about (to me anyway).

You have a very good understanding of this event. The problem comes from entitled people who feel that every aspect of every event has to be applicable to them, or the event is bad.

I really liked this event because it was a double XP weekend with added bonuses that were not there before. I got a few Mechs leveled up, converted some excess Mauler XP to GXP for unlocking modules, and was given a bunch of free stuff for it.

I am not complaining about being given free stuff that I would not have received otherwise. Others should follow suit. If you want to complain about something, then complain about something negative, not something positive.

Try to make sure your complaint is properly anchored in context, too. Saying this event is the "worst event ever" or worse than normal Double XP Weekends means your focus is 100% on your ability to reap all the rewards for the entire event. So, make that clear in your complaint.

Make sure to specify that you deserve to win every reward in the entire event, because we need to know how special you are.

Nice to see people making sense on the interwebs, even though it does establish an impossible expectation for next time ;)

My experience with the event was largely the same, levelled a ton of mechs to double basics (including some brand new ones, and a few mechs I wasn't particularly enjoying, so reducing the grind was awesome). At the end, swapped 100MC for GXP and a bullet cockpit item, which I happen to like quite a bit for dakka builds (and obviously I have many of them, who doesn't?) ... if people can't see the positive in that, they're doing something wrong :)

I just realized what I don't like about 2x XP events ...

I master my current mechs too fast then I need to buy new mechs but I'm space poor and can't afford the new mechs and I have all the current mechs that are on sale ...
Star League problems ... lol Posted Image

Read through this thread and look at how many people have called this the worst event ever.

Exactly one?

I used the event to master a few mechs that ive been procrascinating on, but it doesnt really matter... since modules are expensive and I dont always swap modules.

First 2x XP I bothered with.

Decided to make a challenge out of it by using only the Summoner and Shadow Cat chassis.
I started off in the middle of Tier 3, ended off in the quarter bottom of Tier 2.

New found love for the Summoner, 3x SRM6s (2 tons ammo) & UAC20 (4 tons ammo), Goes 91 KPH and with JJs makes it a nice solo flanking brawler.

With the Shadow Cat, I used Sean Langs build, 2x LPL (right side) ECM, (4 HS)
Most times, I was the only ECM on the team, so I always followed the assaults and broke off when team members need cover from LRM spam.

On average with these chassis, match score was 500+

2 Days and jumped a Tier, not bad, plus the games in MM became way better vs middle of tier 3. lol
