Just ignore the XP conversion and focus on leveling those mechs you just bought on sale or you were avoiding b/c you don't like them...

I'd been avoiding the banshees, trebs, and Vindis b/c I thought would hate them... turns out not so bad and got them all basic'd with banshees on speed tweak already.

Moral of the story, sometimes you just have to try out the chassis yourself and ignore the talking heads.

The xp conversion portion should read, "Are you impatient and like to make bad decisions? You do?"

So I have to use about $80's worth of MC to convert this stuff?

Not likely... Either you are desperate for cash or somebody didn't think this through very well. There is a saying that reads: "Only fools and their riches is soon parted..." Nice try but we are not foolish.

With that $80 you can buy a lot more than you are offering. Oh may I not forget you can buy 66 mech bays with that 20000 MC you want us to spend....

Fair enough, but the set of users that would NOT have buyers remorse over xp conversion in notable quantities is small.

I am just trying to warn those that might think it's a good idea when there are better ways to spend your MC....

It's kind of like millionaires... if they have "FU" money then fine, otherwise consider your options.

The Bonus items gained from the Conversion MC, if bought, is a very nice way for PGI to offset the current US -> Can. dollar disparity. That way, if one does BUY the MC, the conversion rate, roughly 28 cents/US dollar, is looked after, thus a Thanks should be given to PGI from any Canadian players who would buy MC to convert.

Nice touch PGI and well done. :)

It was fun gettinIng all the basic and/or elite skills for some of the Mechs I hadn't done before.
Also, continually rising in tier 4 and noticing that tune diff. to 5 is mostly just that you see new names (our meet again old ones).

I really enjoyed the weekend, thanks PGI for the double XP and thanks to all mechwarriors I was fighting with or against!

Greetings

Well, if anyone cares about my 2 cents on it:

I had about 1-2k MC earmarked for whenever there would be a double-conversion sale next. Getting some goodies on top of that is just icing on the cake and much appreciated.

Also: Yay for double XP time.

I finally ran the numbers here... For anyone Pure F2P, don't use more than 500 MC during this event to convert 25000 Mech XP to General XP. Going beyond that is a DEFINITE waste, but you should be fine up to that limit. B)

I do wish, however, that PGI had allowed some minor MC earning during this event as well. I'm most certainly going to be keeping a lookout for the next MC-providing event. I may not usually mention it, but I do seriously appreciate it when PGI is willing to give out MC earnings for reaching certain Challenge Goals during events! :o

Thanks for the free double XP ! It helps lazy, unmotivated players like me level up our Mechs faster!

And also thanks for the double conversion rate! It helps lazy, unmotivated players like me unlock modules right away instead of grinding for as long to get GXP.

And a big thank you for the conversion rewards, as free C-Bills are always appreciated by lazy, unmotivated players like me.

(Yes, free. Only a compete dufus would say there is a "price" associated for stuff that gets tagged-onto a sale at zero additional cost).

There isn't anyone talking about the price of the rewards individually though, because it makes no sense to take them out of context of the sale. People are talking about the sum price/value ratio of conversion after the value added by the rewards, which is a completely legitimate comparison.

If the value added is enough to make you spend, if GXP is something you really want, and if you're happy with the additional value then great! HOWEVER, you called them free C-Bills, which is demonstrably false. If people want to point out to people what they, for good reason, consider to be the greater value/cost then you can't reasonably fault them.

Only a dufus would assume what people are saying without actually reading what they said. Most of the veteran players on here are not ragging on the rewards. We are saying the delivery vehicle is poor. Xp conversion, even doubled, is not a great value. Please read posts before you call people dufuses.

Agreed on the double Xp my maulers are almost mastered.

Unfortunately this thread is FULL of posts where people have "calculated" the MC cost of the free C-Bills, and have ripped PGI a new one for making the C-Bill rewards too expensive. Read through this thread and look at how many people have called this the worst event ever.

Heck, people have said this is worse than normal double XP weekend events BECAUSE of the free C-Bills. They said it sets a bad precedent... What a bunch of whiners.

I don't know what to say to this. You're just wrong. Feel free to go back through the thread and quote all these raving lunatics in spoilers because I don't see anyone being as big a jerk about this as you claim. There's ONE post where someone calculated the cost of the reward items, and again that's a completely legitimate thing to do in the context of someone deciding if the net value of a sale is worth the price to them. Why do you even care if people don't want to spend money on this, or would rather spend the exact same money on something else in game? Also please stop calling them 'free c-bills' because that's technically incorrect and language is important.

And you're still missing the point. Yes several of us put up the Mc numbers needed to complete this challenge. And again the reasoning is to show players they can get greater value from other in game items. Buying a decent hero/champion can get you xp and cbill boosts, and cost way less. Premium time gets you both xp and cbill boosts. If you buy a mech or mastery pack, you get all of that, and will most likely be way under the 20,000 Mc needed to complete these rewards.

As I said before xp conversion is good for some, but even at half off there is better value out there from pgi. They have a lot of great products that can help boost both your xp and cbill production, with more value added.

Casually playing during the event I earned around 25k gxp(mostly in my new Urbies). I don't think anyone denied the fact that double xp is great. The thing about the event that gives it a bad taste is the absurdity of reward progression. The first tier starts off fine at 200mc for a 50 cal(500mc) and consumable. It immediately jumps to 1000mc for two cockpit items breaking even (no one actually cares about consumable rewards). After that it's 2k for 3 items(1750mc) and the value drops from there. For me I played enough during the event to earn 2 cockpit items and can instead spend the 1000mc on 2 that I actually want and I didn't even play much. The fear is that newer players will see the initial bargain and not realize the sharp falloff of value since MC is a finite thing for some people and it should be spent wisely. In the end the rewards get absurd and I question why they even went to values so high. It's like if you buy and collect 15k barcodes of cereal and turn them in they give you a car worth half as much as you spent in cereal. Why is it even proposed to reward anyone for spending 20k MC? No one may ever know.

Unless you really are super lazy or really like the items they would be giving you, you shouldn't have needed to convert at all during the event. If you can at least put some effort forth, a week of premium time would do you much better.

Played a whole bunch, leveled things I'd been avoiding (and got much better with them in the process), enjoyed myself immensely, converted 25k xp. I think I actually got more out of this event than many other previously, in terms of re-engagement with the game, getting better, and enjoying myself.
Some of the arguments over whether the conversions are worth it seem silly: if you've been sitting on a tonne of unconverted XP, you could now convert it for half the usual price, irrespective of any award attached for doing so. In other words, if you were going to spend money on conversation at some point, then the rate discount was fantastic.
If you weren't ever planning to spend money on converting xp to gxp, then you could just ignore that aspect and enjoy your double experience for each match, and leave it at that.
If on the other hand someone interpreted the table as 'you should now play as much as you can and then spend MC just to get these rewards', then that seems to be a misunderstanding of what this event was about (to me anyway).
Anyway blah; I had a great time and unlocked many new modules; I hope they run it again.
