has more direct damage with lasers than the normal SHC-B, the lrms are nice dps at range and it's not too hot

Always been true for IS mechs, but the Timber Wolf Champion has unique hard points. I figured it didn't hurt to ask.
TBR-C(C) uses all standard parts. Mostly TBR-C but the TBR-S right torso for the jump jets. Most TBR builds these days use some torso omnipods from the TBR-S, just for the jump jet access. They aren't unique to the Champion

Requiring a Smurfy build really limits the creative process. You can't remove, add, or change any hard points. We need an alternate method.

Yes you can. Under the numbers where the armor is you see a SHC-(variant) with a little down arrow in black on the right side. Click the down arrow to see a list of Omnipods you can choose, this lets you switch them thus switching hardpoints mixing and matching. Everything but the CT can be changed.

Vote for my double-PPC config
Not for a Hero build, for a Champion and Trial Mech build.
After all the Shadow Cats I tried, I will again choose one I find best for noobs, Quick Play and Community Warfare.
Shadow Cat-Prime Heavy Scout
Prime CT chosen for Torso Turn Rate Yaw quick, the other 3 have Quirks that MASC can provide
A legs chosen for toughness, again other legs can be made up for with MASC use
Designed as a Heavy Scout mainly using 3MPLs mid range with SRMs saved for those moments you smash people's faces thus the limited ammo. Play it as a Heavy Scout to benefit the team, can also help serve as a learning platform for later Light Mech play though tougher than other Lights.

I was going to submit this. I absolutely love this build. Consistent 50 damage alpha strikes, decent heat management, with speed and manuverability make this a deadly little package. Perfect as part of a Hunter-Killer lance sporting some SCRs as buddies.

While I personally think this is the best SHC build in the game right now, I think noobs would appreciate it if the trial mech had ECM instead. Going with all 3 meds is hot hot hot for new players.
What better way to teach them proper skills than trial by fire? That's how I learned!
In all seriousness, as long as it isn't garbage I wouldn't care what build the Champion SHC comes with. I myself find the ECM to be more of a drag on the chassis than a boon, since it needs every available ounce for guns or cooling capacity. But, if people vote 2xC-LPL, that's fine. We know it can work.
I'm also not sure if PGI is willing to mix and match pods on a (C) 'Mech or if it's supposed to be "pure."

You should fix up that build to be more friendly to new players. Drop the TC1 for another DHS so newbies have a little more heat capacity and dissipation to work with, and move the LPL to the left arm so that losing the right side torso doesn't mean losing both LPLs.

I really want the build you posted to be the one that gets made into the Champion mech, so please consider tweaking your build!

Well, if that for new players then I agree that double LPL is the best variant.
But I suggest to make it on SHC-B chassis.

It might become hot if you keep spamming both lasers, but it has some range and good dps for striking.

- Simple weapon systems
- Not-totally-horrid heat
- 10:1 F:B armour ratios
- Unlike the 2nd poster, I didn't strip a weapon arm totally of armour or put the TC in an arm pod

- Multiple engagement ranges
- Decent heat
- Ample ammo
- The AC workhorse that is the UAC5
- The laser workhorse that is the ERML as your back-up weapon
- ERLL in the arm for legging pesky Lights easier
