I guess the better way is to select proposed (may be not all) variants and make a voting.

Do the builds have to use matching omnipods? That is, does a Prime have to use all prime pods?

Double UAC 10 + 5 Small lasers. Packs a punch and runs cooler than 3 Med laser + dual UAC 10.

Maybe Ms. Benoit should first of all clarify for which game mode champion mechs are meant for. I would recommend beginners a completely different mech. The most fun EBJ imho and probably most viable in organized games is the already mentioned double UAC10 build, however with 3 instead of 5 SL.

EBJ-A (2x UAC10, 3x SL,TC1,1xDHS, 5t ammo)

Clan TC1 is too good for the tonnage to drop it. More SL would cost too much ammo or heat efficiency. Remember that the smurfy heat efficiency value is somewhat biased for UACs as it does not account for double fire, so you often heat up more quickly than the value suggests. For CW you can drop some head and leg armor as well as the extra heatsink to load more ammo

2 tons isn't really enough ammo (3 is standard, 2.5 works well). The TComp is rather unecessary, but I suppose it's fine. Fixed: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...58cc8baaf3fa463

Since the Gauss nerf, 2 tons is plenty. If it is enough per Gauss on the 2 Gauss Ebjag which has less backup I'm sure it is fine here :P. TComp is always nice with any build that has some lasers.

Like 1453R's but noob friendly with a few variations.

Ebon Jaguar-Any 2UAC5, 4ERML
  • Most ammo in arms avoids side torso explosions, if you lose the arm, you don't need so much ammo anyway
  • Heat Friendly even with no efficiencies unlocked
  • ERMLs can alpha 3 times before going into Heat Warning
  • UAC5s can be fired even when at high heat and you cool off
  • Plenty of ammo
  • Works in both Quick Play and Community Warfare, in CW I tried several Ebon configs and this gave me the best performance, I stacked 3 with a Cheetah or Scat and dished out good or better results
  • Designed for what the Clans were known for, fighting at range though it can dish out damage close up too, you are rarely ever useless in any situation at any range

I didn't see a single proper 3UAC5 build so I'll just throw this here.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6e14d83669ad05b

3UAC5, 3SL, 6.5t of ammo.

Don't put the ammo in the torsos. The torsos are what get hit on the Cauldron Born, nobody ever arms for the arms so they only take incidental damage. With the ammo in the side torsos it is much more like to get crit, which means the ammo will explode and rip that side of your mech clean off. Also, since you are going full bore with 6x cERML, I would drop the Targeting Computer for another heatsink, or even drop one of the lasers for another heatsink.

Sortakinna depends on how you play Cauldron-Borns. I've never suffered an ammo boom; I have lost arms before STs before. Heh, the given layout was me trying to retain as much autocannon ammunition for as long as possible in the face of unpredictable damage. That and I have a thing about putting ammo in arms.

Ah well. Poor Susan isn't going to win anyways, the front-runners look like the normal bog-standard boring cLPL hitters. Suppose that just means I get to keep her all to myself :P

Created a build in the lab but couldn't get the link to post right. Here's the build from memory.

EBJ-A Mixed Range Loudout:

Right Arm: Clan AC/10, Clan ER Large Laser
Right Torso: Clan LB-X5 Autocannon with 2 tons of ammo
Left Torso: 2 and half tons of AC/10 ammo
Left Arm: Clan AC/10, Clan ER Large Laser

The purpose of this build is to allow a Clan mechwarrior to fight at all ranges. The Ebon Jaguar is one of the fastest heavy mechs available to the Clans, and with skillful use of that speed, a mechwarrior could bring both AC/10s to bear on an enemy mech and deal severe damage. The LB-X5 likewise is good for exploiting holes made by the AC/10s, as well as catching the faster light mechs thanks to it's shotgun-like spread.

Finally, for when the enemy is out of range of the Autocannon's, the mechwarrior cannot close with the enemy due to battle conditions or damage, or the mechwarrior finds his or herself out of Autocannon ammunition during a prolonged engagement, the mech also mounts a pair of ER Large Lasers, which with proper heat management (as this design only mounts 13 double heat sinks) can be used to devastating effect on enemy mechs long after the Autocannon have run dry. Like the LB-X5, the lasers can also be used to exploit holes made by the AC/10s.

Note: While not the best champion build, it does show the spirit of the Clan style of fighting, which is very mobile and hard hitting. Or in the words of US Navy Admiral William Halsey: Hit Hard, Hit Fast, Hit Often.

EBJ-A

This is my favor build for my EBJs. Multi-range pressure with close in brawling capability. I generally hold fire on the cERMLAS unless I have a guaranteed full burn hit or it's for a kill shot. Averages ~590 dmg a match with 2 kills and 8 assists.

Left and Right Torso's changed to EBJ-PRIME Omnipods
(2) cUAC/5
(2) cSRM6
(5) cERMLAS
(1) cDHS
(4) tons cUAC/5 ammo
(2) tons cSRM ammo
max armor values except for (51) in each leg and (17) in the head
---------------------

If switching out Omnipods is not allowed, I submit the following:

EBJ-A

Multi-range pressure build with close in brawling capability. Chainfiring the lasers for continued pressure is a must. cERSLAS let you continue to put pressure on the enemy while bleeding off the heat generated by the cERMLAS.
(2) cUAC/5
(3) cERMLAS
(4) cERSLAS
(4) cDHS
(6) tons cUAC/5 ammo
max armor values except for (51) in each leg and (17) in the head

2LB5X (4 tons ammo) + 3 SRM6 (3 tons ammo) + 3 ER Medium Laser

Totally simple but deadly!
