Sometime back(around the announcement of the Rifleman) I decided I was done giving PGI money due to some of the crappy decisions PGI had been making over the last 6 months or so. As such I didn't buy the Rifleman, nor the Archer(Posted Image) even though I really like the mech.

Now enters the Kodiak...

What I need is for someone to convince me to have a moratorium on my decision to no longer give them money so I can justify buying that mech because damn it I have always loved that mech and I think they have done a good job with it even with that silly sunken whack a mole head.

You can't have it both ways. When voting with your wallet, it's all-or-nothing.

I think it depends on what decisions prevent you from buying them in the first place.
I honestly, can't put my mind on anything really heinous PGI has done recently.

Why do you need the internet to validate or invalidate your decision? Become an independent thinker and make up your own mind

Forget moratorium, do ultimatum. :) They add pilot eject animation or you wont get it. Or they add play character pilot creation etc. :)

Yes, that is true, but I am looking for an excuse in part because of the sh*t storm PGI has been receiving over the move of a large unit in CW. I just don't see the big deal with it, or why this particular event is the sword people want to throw themselves on.

Well it was mostly a lot of small things over time, but the straw that broke the proverbial back for me was the introduction of voting. I hate it.

Unless PGI is releasing the Axman next month, I'll wait for CW Phase 3 to see if I want to spend more money.

Vote with your wallet, indeed.

I'm perfectly capable of thinking for myself and making up my own mind. I am also not too proud to ask for advice. Perhaps after you grow up you will understand the difference.

You have a good point there that I fully agree with. I was just hoping someone could come up with a convincing or hell even a humorous argument for me to change my mind. This was mostly just for fun as I was looking for an excuse.

I am in a similar situation. I abstained from the Rifleman and Archer on the basis of insufficient evidence of progress (or even, concern) about Faction Warfare, maps and new game modes.

And now they are down to one patch a month, which just suggests extra long lunches and the already glacial pace of development will further slow.

Kodiak is tempting me, but I have to balance my desire to have one against continually enabling PGI to think that all it needs to do to stay in business is pump out Mech Packs and not give a damn about actually improving the underlying game.

The Mechs eventually become available for CBills. And I have 190 Mechs, 170 of which I rarely touch. So I think I will continue to hold out.

Maybe PGI will eventually notice the whales sending them a message. Or maybe they think they got enough money out of me and there are other whales to be farmed.

IMO do what will make you happy. You can wait for this next patch to drop before you decide, the early-order bonuses are open for a month. It's not like you'll see the mech for a couple months anyway.

Fair enough. I can't think of anything humorous though.... Maybe something about letting the stupidity of others dictate your actions... But that's not funny either. :D

There are people on this forum who have literally spent thousands of dollars on this game. With Whales as whaley as that I'm not sure if a few individuals could have enough impact to make Pea Gee Eye re-evaluate their strategies. It's kinda sad, really. :\

What I'm trying to say is that PGI is as PGI does.

How about you clear the slate and take a fresh perspective.

Ask yourself:
How often do I play this game?
When I play, do I have fun?
Do I wish to continue having fun playing this game?
Will a giant 100 ton inuit tattooed killer steel bear make me enjoy this game any more than it already does?
Do I really want to wait 8 months before I can buy this amazing piece of art with free internet money or should I splurge and pay to get it in 4 months?

Oh look! I've already forgotten about the petty gripes I had with PGI from 2 years ago. Why yes, I do enjoy playing the game. I will purchase one giant inuit tattooed killer steel bear.

I am the opposite. I have no problem throwing money at PGI and I think they have done a great job in the last year of furthering the game. For me the question is not "have they done enough of whatever" (past tense) to make me happy, but are they continuing to develop the game in a manner I like so as to ensure I can keep playing (future tense)? So far the answer is yes. So I buy mechs with real $.

The question for you is why did you decide to stop supporting them, and whatever it was that created your ire has it been alleviated? If so, throw em some dough and get that cool pile of pixels you know you want.

I like this game, stupid balance stuff and all. I like the direction of the game thus far. As long as it looks like they are making decisions to further develop it...they get my money.

Out. Now. Lol.

But if you really want a convincing argument, The KDK-3 gets 2 Ballistic Hardpoints in each side torso. Combined with Endo and Ferro compared to the DWF, it has much more tonnage to work with. So that means you can go UAC/10X4 Easily, or Dual Gauss.

You also get a bunch of stuff to go with it, ER Medium and UAC/20 Cooldown Module 5, Target info and Radar Derp modules, Ghost Beat camo for the Kodiak unlocked for all variants, Kodiak Warhorn, a medallion, and something else (can't remember right now), and 6.5 Million C-Bills.

So, if you order right now you receive about 30 Million C-Bills in bonus content, not to mention over 1000MC in items and camo alone, and that's if you want the standard pack right now, being $20.

Oh and it's a Clan battlemech; that means you can customize at will. And most, save for the KDK-2 and KDK-4, have plentiful amounts of hardpoints for it's size. AND the Kodiak Hero Spirit Bear has MASC. Removable too. So, Executioner speeds with Direwolf armor with the freedom to customize.

Now if you aren't convinced, then you need to consult the nearest and next Battletech game. (CGL FTW)

So you want us to motivate you into buying the mech pack?

Just imagine a dominatrix with a Russian accent is ordering you to buy it. "Do it for mother Russia!"

If the direwolf was so good it had to be nerfed, then theres no way the kodiak wont eventually get nerfed

im wary about buying it just because I know pgi is gonna nerf it

Direwolf with a 300 engine and a 10% turning speed quirk was obviously considered too agile LOL. Because they took away its turning speed quirk (in addition to nerfing the !@#$ out of the agility skills).

So you really think a Kodiak that can comfortably use a 350-370 engine and still run comparable firepower to a Direwolf is going to escape the nerf hammer? Especially when a variant has MASC and will be able to go 90kph in short bursts?

Its days are numbered. Before its even been released.
