There will be no single player on launch and there are no known plans to add it afterwards.

It sounds as if "baptism by fire" is the training method they'll be using. Bots require AI programming, which is timely and expensive to develop. I'm hoping that if they choose to not allow this, they at least provide us a plethora of information in regards to the game's inner mechanics.

I agree that knowledge is power, and without a working AI (shouldn't need one anyways :)) information resources should be readily available, and easy to comprehend. Unlike (for the sake of example) FFXI where the majority of the game's inner workings were based off trial and error & speculation from the players over the course of playing the game.

im hoping that there will at least be a "training mode" that has a movement training course, and shooting range (static and moving targets). or if it was also possible to host a multiplayer training session too.

I don't see how adding a training mode could hurt. it could only help the game. Heck if anything port the training and wave mode over from MW4 and add in some network stuff so lances could practice against bots to hone their skills as a team

Yes you are correct it wouldn't hurt but how to go about it do you have a general all game training "space" for those people that haven't picked a side or maybe wait till they pick a side/ Merc company then train ?? But i do believe there should be a training set, because if you set up a bunch of people that haven't played the game at all before, and want to get into it ( which we should make every strive to get all people into this game, just for fun) they would just give up and go to an easier game or something that they have already played before even if this game is free. Though I still beliieve they should set up a fee just to keep it all honest.

Ok easy way to do it is to have the first mission, be basically a single player mission, go here take out these buildings and light vehicles, after that have a "Simulator" that lets you practice with your lance mates (if they could do the simulator in like an arcadey looking style i think that could be cool. Like if youve seen EVa theres a simulation battle something akin to that were it clearly looks like its a sim

Ugh, MW games online are punishing to new players. There really should be some kind of AI practice.

Ok my take on this is simple and positive. No AI training is an encouragement to the Community especially the Houses and Corps to make a serious effort to have trainers available to help the newbies learn the ropes. This serves as a recruiting method but also serves to bring out some of the best in the community.

Well i think theres bound to be something involved to help the player with the ropes of the game . I can imagine everyone running into the match without no clue of what button does what "errr lets press this button" * error error ejecting* "NOOO i dont WANT to EJECT" and suddenly you have a whole bunch of people in one match accidently ejecting O_O

I really like this idea, have like a trainee program, were a rookie gets paired with a high ranked mentor. The mentor gets bonus LP for the trainee based on the trainee's preformance. The trainee and mentor get put on a private voice chat. And all the trainee has to do is click a button that says find a mentor, and it looks for a mission that has a mentor in the queue and pairs them with him

THis needs to happen tho at some point just get a group of tranees and tell them the eject button is the fire button lol they run up to an enemy mech and everyone ejects!

imagine the pain that will be pub matches, when half the players will be new and have no idea what to do....hmmm...who else runs a model like that?

oh that's right, WoT does...and it's akin to having someone pull out your fingernails with a hot pliers.

Please give new people an area to play around in, and let's try to improve the ability of the pub matches to just above horrific.

Thanks!

I'd say simple workaround for this is to have a few "training" lobbies that are the same as live lobbies but have no rewards or consequences.

Could allow for lances to practice as a unit without worrying about losing LPs or their 'Mechs.

Would also be a good place for people to test out new configurations without fear of losing their new 'Mech/weapons.

Most likely MechWarrior: Living Legend is the closest at this time you can get to experiencing what MWO will be like. Both animation wisely and also the effects and amount of stress on your OS.

Afaik for having an AI system, MWO would need to rewrite the cryengines AI system from scratch which isn't that straight forward. On top of that, the map creation process for a single player map is neither that easily accomplished. Its not like just choosing a Map and dumping the assets etc. via a dropdown menu as in MW4 iirc. You will need walkpathes, detection ratios and more needed to be set up, only for a single player map in mind, which cannot be changed once the map is exported.
Since its an online game, I would expect specific training servers set up where new members could develop their skills, with a live trainer. Or elsewhere the possibility to host your own local server to learn the game mechanics by.
