A list of what it can do:
  • carrying Gauss with XL without worrying of being dead from Gauss explosions
  • AC/20 with XL
  • if it has 4M, then it would become a better missile ballistic brawler because the missiles and ballistics are not competing for space in the STs.
  • laser hill humper (lol)
  • look awesome with low hanging Gauss arms
What it's bad at:
  • peek with ballistics
  • not sure what else...
Multiple (U)ACs builds are obviously better served with the current Maulers. Those who like to pack AC/20s (with missiles) however, would be happy to have this I imagine.

Personally, I'd be happy to have this!

EDIT: I forgot about those lower arm actuators! Damn you ghetto IS tech! Posted Image

If its already in the game files, lets add it to the game. Different enough to warrant it being added.

The arm mounts are pretty decently positioned for the dual Gauss, but that's about it. I have no need for it to be a laser hill-humper, for Battlemasters and Banshees can do that far better.

Wouldn't say no to Gauss Hands, might even pay for it too.

What it really needs is Light Fusion Engines,

XL engines are a death wish for IS, the only thing that makes IS mechs on par with Clan is higher structure value, take away that with an XL engine and find yourself getting oneshot by a single Clan assault alpha or poked down in a few hill thumps.

The only reason for IS to ever use xl is in light/medium mechs that have little/no structure quirks and as a result are squishy/ die easy either way.

The Mauler 3R would be valid ground if C3 was implemented.

Look, it even has Jump Jets!

It is fair, different, and interesting, so it should be added.

10 ton difference can be important in CW decks. For example, I did not buy the KGCs during the C-Bill sale, because I honestly think Mauler can be better CW UAC5 boat due to high chest mounts and smaller torso hitboxes.

Torso twist range and pivot is what hurts the mauler, not lack of arm ballistics.

I don't think the idea is to fix the Mauler's weaknesses by adding another variant, just increase variety.

How badly do you think?
(almost as much as I want IS SSRM6s, RACs and Light/Heavy/SnubNose PPCs)
