It better have 360 degree torso rotation :D
All I'm saying.

I keep seeing this. Is this a lore thing? Why would it have 360 degree rotation?

Good offense firepower
Good fire support
Soft CT that will require some structure buffs and possibly a hitbox adjustment.

Overall squishy at launch, but will turn out to be popular.

Side note: Also a chance that it will be too CT strong and might cause a nerf to CT structure. It depends on whether PGU takes into account the added vulnerability of that CT antenna top side. Either they don't anticipate the issue and it cores the CT too fast, or they do realize it, and over compensate. There is a chance they will get it right from the start, but until it sees extensive battle where it can be observed better, I'm guessing the CT will be either too soft or too durable.

You can do 3LL and 5MLs with an XL 280 and 18 DHS. I mocked it up on a QKD-5K.

Hmm I prefer 4ERLL or 3LPL+2ML or 2LPL+4ML.

Without any quirk, I'll roll with 3LPL+2ML, which is comparable to the meta Blackjack.

[*]295 is a bad engine cap for heavy mechs that run a lot of energy

Made that point when it's stats were released. Had someone tell me that I'd be a sh*t pilot in it as their defense of it. Just surprised I don't see that person writing page long dissertations shooting down any negative comment like they did before.

Now, If it had 360 torso twist as Mister D said, I would be interested. But, that would have been a great selling point from it's inception. So, I doubt it will get it. What it will get is decent Acceleration and Deceleration quirks, just like the last two.

If I remember correctly, one of the previous games had it with 360 torso. Could have been MekTek's patch to MW4:Mercs.

I'm sure they will all be viable, though with slightly different roles.

Engine cap is way too low for an IS heavy.

The antenna scares me. Maybe if it was a legit radar I'd bw down but as it stands it seems like an oversized Blackjack or an under-ton Jagermech. For me it would need some impressive quirks to justify using it over my Jagermech.

XL280 gets you to ~82 kph. That's on par with the BK and GHR typical vomit builds.

Yup, MekTek's MekPaks let it rotate 360. However, MW4's torso twists are much different than ours. For example, mechs like the Vulture and Thor would have 360 as well if we followed that model...

True, but I still put 300xl and 325xls into my QKD builds (and also seems like a common engine size for many guys I know) - because at 60T you're better off playing like a big medium mech then trying to absorb punishment like a Black Knight (which plays a bit more like an Assault than a Heavy).

That also works for the QKD because it can usually shave one, or both, arms depending on the build. Something the Rifleman is unlikely to want to do.

If I could get a 350 into GRHs I probably would, but that 340 cap usually sees me drop down to 325 to pick up the extra ton and a half.

Also true, but with the Rifleman's hardpoint layout, you don't need it to tank shots like a Black Knight.

280XL, 4 MLas, 2 UAC/5.

It's a solid weapon loadout on a lot of IS heavies, and the Rifleman can carry it running at 80kph and ridge-hump.

You could drop the UAC/5s down to AC/5s for 6 MLas. It'll run hot, but hit hard.

60 tons is a bit of a tricky weight, but I expect the Rifleman will be a lot stronger than either of the IS 60 tonners we have now.

I don't know why everyone is saying use XL. I would make it work with a standard engine.

I mean look at that CT. With its smaller size and even mediocre movement speed it will be able to lose a side torso and keep fighting for quite a while.

The biggest problem with STD engines is the tonnage requirement. The Rifleman, being only 60 tons, will have a hard time finding the tonnage to use a STD engine without either skimping its weapon payload or moving at assault mech speeds.

Given that XL engines allow for much higher ratings due to their lower weight, you also get more agility for turning/twisting/peeking/etc, which helps with survivability. A slow mech with a STD engine can't torso twist or evade as well as a faster and more agile XL mech.

Aside from the inner sphere engines needing some minor adjustments like shutdown on side torso loss for XL and more structure for a standard, I have yet to find an IS mech where the extra speed is worth losing that much durability and loss of space. On a larger mech anyway.

Larger mechs, of course, have enough blubber to absorb the costs of the STD engine in some cases.

For the most part, even the current instadeath IS XL beats the STD engine on the vast majority of mechs.

Generally, the mechs that "benefit" from a STD engine are the ones that don't even have a choice in the matter, namely due to factors like hitboxes (e.g. XL Stalker is suicide) or low engine caps.

The CT (or what I think is the CT) is really tall and can be hit from any angle. Of course I am looking at that huge ricer spoiler of an antenna. Unless that thing isn't a legit hitbox or somehow divided up into all 3 torsos (weird), then it will make that CT a prime target for destruction (especially with a 60 ton weight type CT structure/armor). Then again, because of that, the CT could also be quirked all to heck too.
