I actually picked this up from watching other lights run at my team to dies ASAP and how it always jacked up my team. Its just so freaking stupid how this works, but it does.
1. You need just one of your fastest mechs to run directly across the map. Like a Locust or anything 150kmh and up.
2. Make sure the pilot is chatting in ALL Chat about doing this. So they know someone is coming to die. I like to report all clears in various tiles I am in or passed.
It also helps with you get one of the whiny person on your team chatting about you suiciding. It helps rile up the enemy into chasing you even more.
3. Once they see the other team: you need to take note to which side of the spawn they went. You then want to move about 1/2 a square to the opposite side they went. While also making sure the other team can get locks on you. You want them to see you and know exactly your heading.
4. Fire at them to make sure even more see you and maybe take a LRM hit or two.
5. Then run directly into them and just do as much DMG before you die but don't run in circles around them. You want them facing the direction you came from. If you have to, just stop and just let them kill you. When you do this, you want your back facing directly towards the center of the map. (I found sometime running backwards to them helps get them to form of the line I want them in better. sounds so stupid but it does works.)

It should have take 40 seconds or so from your first contact to your death. In that 40seconds you should have gotten their entire team to:
1. slow down, and turn towards you because every idiot in the group wants the kill.
2. Mod their entire course to the dead center of the map.
3. Main reason for you to let them kill you is to get them to keep moving in the same direction. Think of this as them "chasing your ghost". (I tried not dying before and its not as effective.)
Thanks to your own team's stupid NASCARing habit; they should have actually formed naturally concave along the central rim. By the time they hit; your team will have the concave on them and should have better cover.
Only major thing that can jack this whole tactic up is when another light runs to them to die at the same time. Seems to be a common tactic of just running to them to die ASAP on this map. Then of course your team will also do the same stupid thing... It always happens.

Note:
1. This does not work on Conquest.
2. This is a tactic if you want to die fast on Polaris and help your team.
