To the comp player the BJ being good isnt an issue, but to the random pug when x amount of shots kills one 50 tonner and it is double for another it makes you go "hmmm". It was bad and if it wasnt why did they change it?
Also, BJ were absolutely COMP as all hell for the past month or so that they have been buffed, have you not see massive amount of Black jacks used during say Bandits New Year in the Inner Sphere?
They were the best 50 tonner to bring, they are still pretty good but they dont have the armor of mechs 30 tons heavier.
Comp as hell for three months vs. being relegated to the dust bin for...3 years? Please. Blackjacks have never been straight-up
bad but they have always had a problem with unshieldable sides and low armor causing them to die easy. That, and lack of JJs stopped them from being comp until the giga-buff in December. And now they will likely go back to being passed over in favor of Storm Crows, Wolverines, and Griffins. Last night there was a bad rash of laser-vomit TBRs and SCRs gunking up the queues because what's old is new again!
Also, asking why PGI changes things if they aren't bad is a question you really shouldn't be asking. I mean, look at what happened to CPLT geometry. Look at what happened with the AC/2 base stats. Look at what happened with Machine Guns. The list is endless!
