Popped A coolant pod to at least get some SML fire off and the cool-shot 9 was instantly negated.

Coolant vs. flamer doesn't help, as you're actually getting so much heat that it'd easily put you to 100%+ if it wasn't hardcapped to 90%.

It must have been so hard fo Paul not to read that "external heat limit" rule in the TT books and come up with an easy solution that wasn't involving Rube Goldbergian arrangements of flamer heat and effect.

There is the LB10X. Only 2 heat for 10 damage, and since the Flamer mech will be hugging you, you won't have to worry about the spread. Posted Image

Not being serious here.

Hmmm, although you are not serious, I might take my long forgotten 2xLBX+4ML Jäger out tonight. I LOVED this mech before clans came.

Problem is though: Yesterday I didnt encounter any flamer, and today neither....

there is only one problem with flamers...the macro "feature". the game should try to avoid these situations because on one hand you will have people using macros cause are legit, on the other hand you will have people claiming that macros are a cheat. neither is entirely right, or wrong. So better to avoid these situations. fix that situation and no one will complain.

You don't need macros to do the flamer trick.

It's just a single button press that way. Tap-flaming targets is quite enough.

A Macro simply allows you to concentrate on other things (like moving and firing other weapons at the heatlocked target)

Which is exactly why macros should be banned along with players using them.

Yeah, something like that. Suddenly everyone is face hugging with MGs and Flamers, cuz it becomes the new meta...

To be fair how often does a CEO needs to understand the product?

Bill Gates knows the basics but doesn't understand current computers because there is a whole team of programmers doing that line work now, back then he was doing alot of the programming before his company got off the ground but computers have come a long way since then and are very different in many ways.

Russ is only a CEO so he isn't to blame for his lack of knowledge on it.

But back to the the flamers.

Has anyone seen anybody abuse them yet?

How many times per match or how many matches you seen it abused?

Is it worth to use it and spam the "exploit" in game and gain a positive result from use, like: High damage - kills - a win - high c-bills?

How successful is it in game?

So another good reason to make Macro's a banable offense!

How am I supposed to properly use and tune my Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog if I cannot use the TARGET software that comes with it?

Oh! People want me to stop using it because it is highly embarrassing to get killed by someone using one. Got it! Posted Image

While it shouldn't entirely run around comp players, comp players do want crappy weapons to not suck, like MGs, LBX, and a host of other useless weapon systems and equipment.

Then why are some now crying that the flamer is effective. Posted Image

Currently flamers generate exponential heat after 4.5 seconds.
Chain firing or using Macro's can avoid this heat. This is an exploit that get around the heat.

Russ however has stated that he doesn't see it that way.

If Flamers not generating heat is A-OK because of Macros (because otherwise no one would use them), then flamers should have their heat removed altogether. Having to use macro's or chainfire or other unconventional methods of firing just to use flamers "properly" and generate zero heat is stupid. If they were intended to be used in a way that generated zero heat, then they should generate zero heat.

Personally, I would be all for zero/very low heat flamers that cancel out dissipation while they're being fired. You could lock down an enemy but you couldn't cool off your mech, meaning you would have to stop firing your flamers every no and again if you wanted to fire your own weapons. Exponential heat is stupid

This is not a "flamer OP" thread. This is "flamers shooting mechanics shouldn't have to be exploited to make flamers good" thread.

Maybe you should bring your own macro'd flamers.

It still surprises me that people expect Russ to be more intelligent than he is. Have you any evidence to cause you to expect him to be?

Yeah...thought not.

If he was able to get millions out of players, then I say he is intelligent enough. Posted Image

Uhm it takes like 3-4 salvos of streaks on a ACH to take it out like that.. so he'd be able to do it to you no problem as flamers take all of.. 2 seconds to heat cap you and you'll get 1 salvo of streaks onto him before he's within 90m

It does not matter. Widowmaker1981 has already backed out. Posted Image

Isn't that part of the problem though? It's sad that you have to ***** on a twitter to get any response. Is there a reason for the forums anymore? (beside forum warrioring, making up rumors about MS and finding out what killed people and is 'OMG OP')

There is a difference between being effective, and too effective (making all other weapons useless in comparison), but I suspect you knew that already and were just being a smart-***.

Either way, with this hotfix, hopefully we can get some real testing done to see whether they need to be toned down or not.
