I agree the academy would help a few of the new things that PGI has integrated over the past three months.
On the issue of your team killing you, well...it is still MWO.

I have been team killed less than once a year intentionally. The only time I ever had a real issue with TKers was during the release of Open Beta when I started playing and there was a wave of {Richard Cameron} who joined at the same time. Maybe it's still an issue in Tier 5 because of trolling alts? Either way just play more and you'll get past the point where you see them

Doesn't matter, should win his/her first match (basically ever at this point) in his/her first mech ever dropped because if it isn't that easy it isn't worth playing.
That is what i got out of this....

Caustic and Polar highlands are fantastic maps for LRMs but i only see them work when boated by not just one but a few mechs. TAG and NARC lights help immensely. Haven't played a LRM night in quite sometime but the last one i was in on went pretty well....like 12-0 well.
LRMS suck because of all the counters, crying nerfing, buffing, LRMagedons that resulted in more crying and just the way they work in general. They do need a change im not arguing that but i dont think it based solely on the maps. Cover is OP but against all kinds of fire, not just LRMS.

I'd say the only maps where I have to worry about LRM's are Caustic and Alpine. Polar is nothing but cover and I don't understand why people have a problem with LRM's there....unless they just stand in the open
LRM's do need changed (buffed...maybe indirect nerfed a little) but it's the amount of cover and slow missile speed that are the main problems imo. But I'd also prefer battlefields (Polar was going in the right direction) instead of arenas.

I only return in-game because I enjoy hanging out with my unit. There's 1 saving grace in this game and its not even part of the game - its the community we've built outside of it despite the fact the game isn't all that great and never will be. If there's one thing that will end up sinking PGI at some point it will be when core units start to move on to games that are actually being developed.

Idiots shooting at the start is annoying...
Maybe get some practice using the LRM, one match a unit mate got 7 kills and butt loads of xp...with just LRM.

I'm am an underhive dweller (and I like it), and I kvetch about friendly fire at spawn all the time. Yet I have NEVER had even the most trigger happy, incompetent players, do what you have described. I would chalk it up to a crazy set of circumstances and try a few more matches before deigning the game, pgi, or your experience a failure.
