How did I miss this? Yes. I want the Huntsman so badly. PGI seems afraid of giving us Clans a medium mech that can bring some sort of competition to the Stormcrow as best in class. All I want are competitive options, and the Huntsman is exactly that; a competitive option to the Stormcrow. Less durable, slower, jump jet equipped, with half a ton more pod space.

That said, we still desperately need a 40 ton option. Viper (meh), Pouncer (why not?), or Coyotl (with invented A and B variants) would be fantastic.

The Coyotl has Prime and Alpah variants already, she just needs a Beta...

Coyotl:

The primary version of the Coyotl used an ER PPC and LRM-10 as the primary long range weapons, while a Medium Pulse Laser and Streak SRM-4 provided short range firepower. Originally the engineers thought they would build each variant around the PPC, but this proved to be too limiting, particularly with the high heat it caused. The missile systems were added to provide firepower at a lower heat cost.

Alt. Config. A

This variation was introduced during a conflict against Clan Cloud Cobra. Mounting seven Jump Jets gave the Coyotl A much greater maneuverability, while the long range weapons were traded for a Large Pulse Laser, Small Pulse Laser, and additional Streak SRM-4 launcher. This version also dropped the Medium Pulse Laser of the original.

As for the a Beta, I've got an idea for one put together:

Alt. Config B

This variant of the Coyotl removes the weapons found in the Prime to equip a Ultra series 5 Autocannon in the Left Torso, the two tons of ammunition for this impressive weapon is located just behind the cockpit in the center torso. The unit also mounts a ER medium class lasers in the Left arm, paired with a SRM 4 with one ton of ammunition in the right arm, to make this unit more of a curiosity it is one of the few mechs designed by the Clans from the ground up with ECM located in the right torso.

You'd be surprised. I pooh pooh'd the IFR, but prior to the latest patch I started running it again. It really shines as a rapid response SRM platform. After this patch, it just got even better. Damned thing is a cockroach. Hard as hell to kill it, it armor rolls like a champ, and brings respectable firepower potential, all while moving stupidly fast for a 45 ton mech.

That's because of quirks though, without them, the Viper would obsolete the Ferret. The Viper is also some weird cross between the Nova and Firestarter since it can have 9 energy hard points or 5E and 4B. Granted, the Coyotl could have that, but it depends on PGI's special variant(s).

I think you would surprised at how nice the Shadow Cat is now thanks to that MASC buff. I wouldn't be against some buffs (like ballistic velocity for UACs) but it is in a better position now, more so than I expected.

Viper would be able to bring a lot of laser potential, for sure. Non-humanoid, though, so it will never armor roll as well as a Ferret. I think there's plenty of room in the Clan stable for all the mediums. As long as the Blanner is last. :D

Meanwhile, Russ is still convinced that mobility is greater than or at least equal to firepower, and as a result the Shadow Cat gets no hardpoint inflation nor burn duration quirks. Yeah. Because he couldn't just look at the Spider vs other light mechs on the IS side to see just how wrong that idea is, and how poorly it worked out in the past.

All the mobility in the world means nothing if the mech hits like a wet noodle. Literally the only thing the SHC does better than the IFR is long ranged poke, and on the vast majority of the public queue maps that is of extremely limited utility. IFR is faster, even with the new MASC, is more responsive due to the bigger engine, has better hitboxes for armor spreading, and has a higher overall damage potential in regards to laser damage output. Toss on the structure quirks and, well... it's impressively under rated.

Well as a point of fact, the Shadowcat gets no hardpoint inflation because it's an Omni and no Omni gets inflation. Much to my Summoners chagrin.

Mind you, some "made up" Omni pods could fix some of this....

Actually go ahead and sell the Dire Turkey as a CJF totem mech, then I won't have to buy it, and can put that money towards the Fire Moth, Viper, Night Gyr, Kingfisher Wave 4.

Not certain, but I coulda sworn the SCR came out of the box with some mild inflation. Might be incorrect here. In any case, a new LEFT TORSO 2E omnipod would solve so many problems for the SHC. Trade stealth for firepower. Blam.

Well on the topic of next mechs.
what do you guys think of this modified Madcat Mk.II figure?

Posted Image

Direwolf and Warhawk legs for the TT? I like it personally a little beefer looking but not super over done. If they took the current DIrewokf /warhawk legs in game and say made them a little narrow or shrink them a smidge?

PGI would probably scale up the torso so that they could literally plop the MC Mk. 2 torso on top of the preexisting legs.

After all, that's exactly what happened to the Warhawk...

Dont scare me like that D:

Not to mention it would require new feet or at least timberwolf feet then and a different lower torso. I wouldnt just want the lower half of a Direwolf spliced with a Timberwolf torse that is just upscalled

I think the Black Lanner and Turkina are a given, despite the Black Lanner having all the problems of the Shadow Cat (and will suck), and the Turkina being little more than a 95 ton Dire Wolf that is just as slow and with fewer load out options (and will be largely pointless).

I highly suspect we'll be seeing the Fire Falcon and Night Gyr as the other two mechs. The Fire Falcon might be fun, if only because it'll be Mist Lynx sized without the problems of the Mist Lynx (presumably), and the Night Gyr will probably find a niche in the Clan heavy line up.

From what I saw in the card game the Black Lanner is faster, stronger and has more firepower than the Shadow Cat but cannot jump. It also has ECM and MASC. From memory it is the strongest and most powerful mech at its speed in the card game.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Black_Lanner

The Night Gyr will be a slow heavy mech with heaps of weapons. I think one of their variants had one of the most missiles in the game for an omnimech in its time.

The list of mechs I would like to see are:

Turkina - 95 tons assault - jump capable heat efficient assault mech. Should be the most agile mech for jumping as an assault mech in the game. Probably should have a similar hitboxes to the timberwolf meaning that you should most likely have your arms destroyed before your CT is taken out.

Night Gyr - 75 tons heavy - slow strong firepower heavy. One variant is probably the biggest omnimech missile boat in the game for clans.

Black Lanner - 55 tons - medium - fastest medium in the game and faster than many lights too which could
make it the best mech in the game!

Fire Falcon - 25 tons light - similar to the mist lynx but faster and stronger - no jump

Conjurer - 50 ton second-line mech - average capabilities - all rounder - similar to the Storm Crow but has jump.

Bane - 100ton - second-line mech - ballistic heaven

Cougar - 35 tons - similar to the Adder - slower, weaker but more powerful

Viper - 40 tons - fast, jump capable, weaker than the Black Lanner and not as fast or powerful but it weighs less.

Firemoth - 20 tons - fastest mech in the game, has MASC, only a bit faster than the Black Lanner, powerful for its weight but so weak you might die running into a wall.

Linebacker - 65 tons - fast, slightly less powerful than the Timber Wolf but heat efficient. Weighs 10 tons less. Slightly less durable than the Timber Wolf and kinda looks similar to a Nova but 10 km/h faster. I guess it fits in as a fast heavy mech.

It's a 55 ton omnimech with no jump jets and 13 tons of pod space. Less if you actually decide to fix its armor issue.

Honestly, perhaps the best overall choice for clan heavy omni is the Linebacker.

65 tons, chassis introduced in 3053, all current tech, great hardpoint locations and perfect amounts of variety... very easy to run various metas. And it offers something a bit unique - a heavy that runs like a medium. Like a Stormcrow with better hardpoint locations packing lots more armor. Definitely a niche that could stand filling - very unique for MWO. It has my vote.

This game needs the Bane! Because some mechs merely adopted the dakka... The Bane was born to it, molded by it...

Also Coyotl or Huntsman.

PGI could make a small mint me thinks off Chassis' WITH Omnis that are much needed for Bad Clams....

Id like to see a SMN with E ST, a SHC with a 2 E LT (I think thats the ECM one) so you choose between more E hardpoints or ECM. Id also like some new pods for the MLZ with E ST.

Basically we need a Bad Clam Rejuvenation Pack. Make some mechs PGI and i will throw money at you!
