Its coming!

The Archer is fast approaching and will be in our hands soon. That being said, I am not known to use lrm's that much. I have a few mech builds that I use once in a while with lrm's and thats it. I have never built a pure lrm boat before, I always combine at least some kind of lasers with the missiles, so that way you have a fighting chance even if you dont use your missiles.

I also cant wait to try out some srm builds on the thing, I have no doubt it will make a nasty brawler, especially since it will get official missile bay doors.

March should be a fun month, with the Archer and new public que map.

While it still depends on quirks, this mech has a decent chance of competing with the Timby/SRMmoner for the best brawling heavy position.

Looks like a good SRM brawler, but as an LRM boat that cockpit might be a problem. Have to expose so much to see and aim at anything.

Me? I want to see what kind of SRM beastie I can make out of the missile variant for kicks. The other variants I'll build my more usual balanced load out. #whoosh

But yes, I gave the Rifleman a miss and am still trying to *click* with the Warhammer so looking very forward to another unseen I might mesh with as well as my MADs.

Surprisingly, and cautiously, yes.

Always liked the Archer, but never loved it, if you get my meaning. It was my go-to Destroid in the Robotech RPG (Spartan), but more of a dependable unit member in Battletech (almost always ARC-2S).

Then, I saw Alex's concept art. And then the Tempest painted version. And now, IMO it might be the prettiest of the Classic Unseens.

That's also my caution though. As beautiful as the art is.... It would be very easy to screw up the details on translating it to a 3D model.

That said.... If the model looks as great as the arts, add the hitboxes are decent? Then I could see the Tempest or 5S becoming my Heavy of Choice.

Not as excited as I would have been about the Phoenix Hawk, Stinger, and/or Wasp. Though I'm not going to lie, I was tempted by the ECM Archer hero.

The only one I'm "excited" about is the Tempest and that's because it has ECM. Other than that most of them will more than likely collect a lot of dust honestly.

I dunno how it'll turn out, but I thought the concept art looked awesome enough and I had $20 burning a hole in my pocket, so I grabbed them. This is, incidentally, the first mech in 4 years I've bought simply because the concept art looked freaking awesome. I'm totally unfamiliar with the chassis otherwise.

There's a decent chance they may end up as hangar queens, though. But, with the right hitboxes and quirks, and if the art gets transfered to 3D model well, they could also end up really badass.

Yes , and the ability to make the LRM hate crowd rage even more is quite the bonus.

You look at the hardpoints on the Tempest? That's one sexy lady. First Hero since YLW I just HAD to have. Of course. Spirit Bear just made that list, too

I bought them before I even really looked at the mechs. I just really, really loved the art Posted Image

And yeah, that Tempest is going to be all kinds of lasers, ECM and SRM's for me.

The Kodiak would have been the second mech I bought solely based on concept art, but I'd have bought it anyways. I basically violently threw my wallet at the screen the moment Russ announced it Posted Image Extra sexy kinda cute AND badass bear themed Atlas, at 90kph? Yes please. Yes indeed.

And lo, we upon the fields of the polar highlands we tread
Archers launching so many LRM's that the sun doth hath fled
And as the missiles doth fly and lasers' light fade
Won't it be nice that we shall fight in the shade

I'm looking forward to loading one up with ALL the SRMs as well as a LRM5 version after the fun I've been having with the Mad Dog.

Missles need to be in a better state.

Between the difficulty of SRM's/LRM, and the random or just complete lack of hitreg with them.. its a hard call.

I found the same to be true with the new Jenner-IIC, every single one of them were great, until I got to the Missle only variant, and it was the most frustrating pain in the butt to play.

I was going to buy it in early January, but PGI took away the modules and C-Bills from the package. So I am no longer looking forward to it. Too bad, I was going to spend a bunch of cash on it, too.

I'm looking forward to it, but I don't really look at it much on the quirks thing. I look at it on an "Am I having fun?" spectrum.

I am. The only question is to build the Archer-W with SRM 4s or SRM 6s!

Hey, I've always been more of a Valkyrie man for Robotech, though the Tomahawk (Excalibur / Warhammer) is a close second...

When it comes to 3025 era heavies, the Archer was always something I was cautious about, but never really loved, but I did have a healthy respect for it, should be interesting to see how it makes the leap here.
