Is Solaris Possible?

8 or 12 man Free For All. Spawn 1KM apart from 2 other mechs. 7 Minute time limit.
By weight class or unrestricted.
Winner determined in the following order (if more than 1 mech survived, or among the dead ones):
First Place : Kills
Second Place : Most Damage Dealt
Third Place : Assists
So say 3 mechs survived, the one with the most kills (and most damage if tied on kills), takes First Place. Second Place if for the one with most damage overall (lost on kills). Third Place goes to the one with the most assists.
On old Forest Colony map, for example, or Frozen City. Small maps already exist that can make it happen. The question is if the engine/current configuration can support 8 or 12 man FFA.
I'm sometimes tired of team play, and would just like to slug it out with other players, but private matches are still only limited to 2 teams. It's so much fun to play just for yourself, no team, no comms (other than all speak for those alive, and separate channel for those dead).
Thank you,
cskami.

God, it's so frustrating to look at these old videos of MW4 and notice features that we don't even have in MWO 15 years later.

Or is Solaris like Warhammer Bloodbowl, based on WH fantasy but doesn't actually happen in the WH world?

Cause the revenue generating from the matches, the bets, the tourism, and the holovids cover the expenses more than enough. And Solaris techs can work miracles.
In fact, Solaris games had generated so much revenue, the Lyran Alliance was adamant in keeping the planet at all costs, even putting the reconstruction of the Solaris games ahead of military production.

This being said, How would everyone feel to a daily Solaris queue?
Mon-Lights
Tue-Mediums
Wed-Heavies
Thur-Assaults
Fri-Open Weight
Sat/Sun-Event type Solaris (stock mode,all IS,all Clan,Atlas only.....)
With the weights switching days every week to allow people with different play times to best play the weight they wish.
Thoughts?

A Solaris style queue is in progress...those test maps in private match are for that reason.

Plus many 'mechs that competed at Solaris in were purpose-built machines meant to showcase the new technology that was being (re)invented at the time, so it was part sport and part proof-of-concept for weapons manufacturers selling to the 'mech factories. They're sort of the IS analogue to Clan 'mechs like the Incubus, which were built specifically for dueling and not really suited for use in real warfare.

solaris had a myriad of play modes, teams, ffa, duels, etc. so just implementing one and calling it done sound kind of cheap.
the one i want most is ffa. but the others can work too. i had an idea about dueling where it would host 16 players, these would fight in 8 duals, and the winners go on to another round of 4 duels, this could go on for 2 more rounds until it comes down to a final dual. and this would use a drop deck so you can allocate tonnage however you like, save assaut for last, bring it in early etc. its essentially a mini tournament where each rung gets a score bonus (first round loss 1x, first round win 1.5x, second win 2x, third win 2.5x and fourth win 3x total match score,xp and cbills).
the whole thing would take place on a single map on a single server. the map would be divided up into sup arenas, and the dividers would retract into the ground after every round.
i also thought of a 12v12 varient where there would be 3 rounds with a single mech. there would be an initial 12 duals for 5 minutes, after which time a set of dividers will be removed from between pairs of dueling arenas (whether or not the fight had been resolved or not). the 3rd round would remove all the dividers and become a ffa. this would allow all kinds of underhanded strategies that make solaris great.
other modes are pretty self explanitory. ffa is 24 mechs trying to be the last man standing. though i think last man standing should be a different mode from ffa, where ffa would allow respawn and would be an open sever you could drop any time. lms would either involve a single mech or a deck, and you are eliminated when your last mech dies. you get a bonus that gets higher the longer you last.
team play is much like we have now. though i wouldnt mind something like dropping 6 lances for kind of a lance ffa.
