I should first start that I know you all going to whine about this but it really does work and really well in Tiers 1-4. You don't have to believe me; just do a Solo-Q drop and give it a try. You be amazed how many players from good units get suckered from this.

I actually picked this up from watching other lights run at my team to dies ASAP and how it always jacked up my team. Its just so freaking stupid how this works, but it does.

1. You need just one of your fastest mechs to run directly across the map. Like a Locust or anything 150kmh and up.

2. Make sure the pilot is chatting in ALL Chat about doing this. So they know someone is coming to die. I like to report all clears in various tiles I am in or passed.

It also helps with you get one of the whiny person on your team chatting about you suiciding. It helps rile up the enemy into chasing you even more.

3. Once they see the other team: you need to take note to which side of the spawn they went. You then want to move about 1/2 a square to the opposite side they went. While also making sure the other team can get locks on you. You want them to see you and know exactly your heading.

4. Fire at them to make sure even more see you and maybe take a LRM hit or two.

5. Then run directly into them and just do as much DMG before you die but don't run in circles around them. You want them facing the direction you came from. If you have to, just stop and just let them kill you. When you do this, you want your back facing directly towards the center of the map. (I found sometime running backwards to them helps get them to form of the line I want them in better. sounds so stupid but it does works.)

--
It should have take 40 seconds or so from your first contact to your death. In that 40seconds you should have gotten their entire team to:
1. slow down, and turn towards you because every idiot in the group wants the kill.
2. Mod their entire course to the dead center of the map.
3. Main reason for you to let them kill you is to get them to keep moving in the same direction. Think of this as them "chasing your ghost". (I tried not dying before and its not as effective.)

Thanks to your own team's stupid NASCARing habit; they should have actually formed naturally concave along the central rim. By the time they hit; your team will have the concave on them and should have better cover.

Only major thing that can jack this whole tactic up is when another light runs to them to die at the same time. Seems to be a common tactic of just running to them to die ASAP on this map. Then of course your team will also do the same stupid thing... It always happens.

Note:
1. This does not work on Conquest.
2. This is a tactic if you want to die fast on Polaris and help your team. Posted Image Posted ImagePosted Image

I should at least put down I like Polaris. I just been doing this for the last 2 weeks to see how many time I could get teams to change course from it. Its just so freaking stupid how this all works.

Or you can play smart and lead the enemy team to a waitng killbox just by doing pretty much te same thing but without the rusing in and dying part.

Or you could play smart and actually scout for your team as to where the enemy is.

Or you could, as a light, run diversionary tactics to distract and peel some of the other team.

Or you could just play stupid and die.

I was doing both for a since polaris came out.

This just really works well. Helps the brawlers get a nice tight enemy cluster.

Try it with a 6SRM6 jenner IIC. You'll probably kill 1 or 2 of them before they get you.

144 damage in less than 5 seconds? Yes please.

I wish, but the truth is that PGI has the hit reg all messed up with that. The 6xSRM2 build does higher dmg.

Or
instead of suiciding a perfectly good mech

you could try actually working with your team instead and instead of running headlong into the enemy force like ****** Rambo, you can shift, come up from behind them, then when they turn around your entire team now has shots at their rear armor.

or
pretty much any other strategy that doesn't involve suiciding
smh

I did try that, but I found this tactic is so much more help to my teammate.

So if the idea is to delay the enemy movement and direct them into moving into the center of the map why do you need to die to do this?

Seems like moving towards the enemy from an oblique angle to avoid being spotted early and then allowing yourself to be spotted from a desired angle or lane of approach would work as well.

The enemy should turn to face the contact (you) and then you dance in and out of cover/range along the desired heading you want them to move to.

Most puggies will turn towards your possition and try to snipe you this will effectivley pin them in place and give them "tunnel vision" since they will not be searching for new targets if they have you in front of them.

There will be a couple of puggies with a brain on the other enemy team but they will have to contend with the 11 other members of your team as four or five of their team is wasting time/resources/exspending heat shooting at a light mech rabbit they can bearly hit.

The great part of this strategey is it works betters if another light is with you and neither mech needs to suicide to be of use.
