Short answer: No
Long answer: Why do you ask?

Actually I can confirm that when the engine takes enough damage your mech will suffer a speed loss to a speed cap of 0 kph. Also y out weapon systems lose power and cease to function. The mech gyro also looses power and can cause your mech to fall over.

I assume you ask due to the Clan XLs causing a slowdown when you lose one ST. STD engines do not have that downside, since the slowdown was just to help curb the extreme advantage of clan XL engines due to IICs showing up with changeable engine sizes.

Bcs i lost some speed (~5kph) when my Mech with an IS STD Engine lost a ST and had some damage on the other Torso Locations but still some Fromtarmor and the CT was slighty yellow w/o rear amor from some enemy stray fire.

I am curios why my Mech moved slower bcs i dont know why.

Of course having an STD is worse. In fact, I really recommend you see a doctor as well inform any of your recent partners. It's the responsible thing to do.

Actually, yes, the IS Standard Engine has several penalties when you lose a side torso. These penalties are as follows:
-0% Top Speed.
-0% Reverse Speed.
-0% Acceleration.
-0% Deceleration
-0% Heat Capacity
-0% Heat Dissipation
-0% Turning Rate (Speed)
-0% Turning Raw (Yaw)

You also lose the arm that is connected to that torso. For example, if you lose your left torso you lose your left arm. If you lose your right torso you lose your right arm. If you lose your center torso? Well, then you're destroyed.

Actually I have noticed when CT gets nicked pretty hard on XL or STD in IS that the speed stays the same but the sound of the engine no longer has the high RPM sound at full speed when fresh. Noticed this in my Raven a LOT...enough to where I look to see if I am going slower because of the sound change.

Damn. So that's what happened to me.

because it's not documented anywhere.

Can you answer the question?
Do you know the answer?

I don't and I've been here since CB. I can tell you that I've had many times when my mech (IS STD Engine) will take damage and all of a sudden my speed is reduced. Not due to leg shots.

So before anyone starts jumping down someone's throat for asking a simple question and ridiculing them, maybe you should answer it yourself.
If you can that is.
Since there are a few in this thread who act like they know but have presented no answer or evidence or proof. ;)

I see FAR more madness than method. :)

Also, the IS STD engine penalty occurs as early as the Mechbay. It's called the "Heavy as Hell" penalty and it can't be avoided unless unequipped.

I'm going to assume that's either sarcasm or an attempt at a joke.
