Actually, no. Solo players complained constantly about getting their faces kicked in by four mans, so all groups got kicked into one queue, away from the solo players. If PGI switch it back, solos will be up in arms again, and since there isn't population for 3 queues (solo, small group and large group) they can't win.
When PGI made the change, they said it was to ease matchmaking in the group queue. I'll admit it was probably a month or two after the change before you could convince the loudest protesters that they were no longer actually facing groups of any kind in the solo queue though.

I think letting 2-mans in solo que and solo's opt in to group que would solve a lot of problems. A good 4-man in solo que is pretty OP, but a 2-man isn't nearly as bad. This would let people bring friends in to the game and not be up against pre-mades and also let 2 people derp around in solo que instead of derp around against a 12 man. And then serious solo players won't be stuck with either joining a unit or having to just deal with solo idiots.

While i would be fine with that, a lot of people wouldnt be. Yeah, two buddies playing together for kicks is no problem, but two EmP or SJR guys working together would super farm the solo queue.
Tbh 12 mans are pretty much dead outside of CW from what ive seen, the steep tonnage restrictions for going past 8 man have pretty much seen to that (working as intended, i suspect)

Depends on the time you drop. When you drop one evening 5 times vs the same 12 T1 premades with cheater inside their stack your fun goes to zero.
Maybe we need only one big queue where groups and solo guys play together. We would have short waiting times for matches and more mixed matches because you dont drop vs the same premade again and again.

"Super farm" is a little bit of an exaggeration, there's only so much 2 great players can do, at least not on NA prime time. As for 12 mans being dead, I'd go so far as to say teamwork is dead. It's either join a comp team or go back to scrub-land where 90% of the players have voip disabled. I just stopped playing.

2xSRM6 in the grill...LRM15 to replace the worthless satellite TV dish up top...and no need for those side mirrors in MWO, a couple of LPL's will do nicely. But that cockpit yo! Gonna be some hard times ahead...but I'm sure Volvo Mechworks will get their sh1t together and figure it out. Can't wait!

Yes, wonderful idea, bring back exactly what the old system was, becasue nobody ever complained about 12 mans roflstomping random pugs match after match after match after match for the entire 3 years we did it that way from closed beta to after release

While we´re at it, let´s reintroduce broken turrets to assault becasue that also worked so well, and raise cap times back to 3 minutes so that conquest gets broken again, too...
Seriously, we need like a "Read this before posting or get ridiculed forever" thread encompassing all the bad ideas we already tried and why it´s a stupid idea to repeat them..... Otherwise the game will never move forward becasue newer players will always be suggesting we repeat previous failures, and will not understand "Why PGI does not listen to community ideas" and get butthurt when they don´t implement the same systems that failed miserably in the past.

Heck no.
But why run a 3rd party software to then run the software you want.
In business, fine, in gaming, why?
I dont see the reason to fire up my steam just to play this when i can just play this directly.
the inane comment about resource use was a little bit overblown i admit.
This question needs to be put into context. The question should emphasize why anyone would use Steam just for MWO?
The answer is simple - they wouldn't. The reason Steam is used is because it's an easy to use library of all your other games. I prefer a one stop shop on my PC for all my games and Steam gives me that.
Not only that but Steam uses basically no resources, keeps all my games up to date with ease, allows streaming to other PC's and one of my favorite things about it is when a game is having crash issues starting up or something typically all I've got to do is tell Steam to verify game cache and it's fixed. That is so much easier than the constant research I've done in the past trying to fix some stupid *** issue.
Steam gets SUCH a bad rap on these forums for some reason... I've loved Steam ever since I got it 10 years ago.
But no, no one is going to install Steam just to install MWO if they're aware MWO has it's own launcher.
