I'm a little concerned that the hit registration issues will get worse as things get smaller.

I am pleased.

Edit: Until he mentioned that quirks may be re-adjusted, it will still need most if not all of them still.

I can see it now instead of scaling then seeing how it is for a week before adjusting,
hes ganna Preemptively Nerf it and getting it buffed back will be like all Clan, Pulling Teeth,

Jesus Christ, that's small. If they give all oversized medium mechs a similar treatment, we may finally see a medium mech queue as big as the heavy mech queue on a regular basis.

I mean, the Nova is already lethal. After the resize, I think it will be a top tier mech, for sure.

So when you say "global" reduction in size do you mean just for the Nova's general size, or global as in ALL the mechs can be resized and not redone individually?

That's just what russ says "Global". I think he's referencing that they reduced the entire volume of the mech by 18%, rather than... i don't know to be honest. in my mind 18% is 18%. Not sure how it can be different. Maybe he was trying to say that it wasn't just reducing the size of arms or legs but the entire mech.

Yeah he ran through a few terms they used and global was total shrink, some mechs will be shorter but just as wide and thick (I would imagine grasshopper would get this) and some will get other tweeks.

In before somebody complains about mechs being resized even further away from the originally listed measurements in the technical readouts of the board game.

yeah, this looks smaller than the Adder, or similar to the kit fox.

there is a different between size (smaller / bigger) and height (taller/ shorter)

It may be as short or shorter than a kitfox but it is still much more wide and has a higher volume thus it is still bigger.

Yup. Makes sense. Hopefully it'll bring good changes.

yeah, wish weapons would all be a standard size... hopefully that'll be the next step.

um... Considering how some of the assaults have large weapons the size of the entire torso of a light mech? If I equip a PPC on a locust I do not want my cockpit to be inside it... nor do I want a PPC the size of a large cucumber on an awesome for eg...

That looks pretty awesome. Can lead to greater survivability in mechs and longer TTKs. Looking forward to the Catapult too and work on the 55 ton "heavy mediums".

Wasnt catapult supposed to get a totally new model? Its too ugly right now!

Blasphemy! The catapult is a beautiful mech design. Never should they change its shape. Only overall scale.

My only bugbear with these rescales is that this affects the weapon models, breaking any hope of PGI holding to a previously stated goal (stated right after the firestarter came out and caused a stir) of making all of a given weapon system the same dimensions +-4%. Most mechs AFTER clan wave 1 hold relatively well to this, but this rescale is going to throw it all out of whack again.

-but I wouldn't want to lose the rescale work, I do own catapults after all.

Good!

I just wish so many oversized mechs had not made it out the door in the first place since it would have saved resources and time down the line. Still, glad they are doing this since they could have said, "eh, we already sold those in pre-order packs and have our money, so who cares."

I look forward to the Awesome being fixed, but there's also the Centurion, the Hunchback's ill-treated brother who, for some reason, is a lot larger despite also being 50 tons. Given how many free Centurions have been given out - and how nearly all of them are rusting in mech bays - it would be nice, as you said, to see that fixed so Mediums can again be a decent class of mechs.

It is funny that the joke pic clearly shows that there is a working in game tool that allows the size of mechs to be easily rescaled without devoting hours of work, unless that was a really expensive joke. Did it really take all these months to clean up some animations?
