That would work. And make the mech hold the top of the hilt, near the blade of the hatchet, so it doesn't stick out from the hand so much.

It appears to be an ammo belt.

As you know, information is ammunition.

So... it's an information belt.

The Axman, like the Hatchetman, Berserker, and Nightsky, should be part of a Solaris VII Melee Pack. Pre-sell it to help fund work on Solaris game modes, maps, and hand-to-hand combat mechanics. Offer them in solo packs, and in a Grand Tournament Pack with all four, with some kind of bonus on top.

I believe Kodiaks claws was never meant to punch, it is just decorative tothem thing. In that matter clans do not do and train melee, but maybe Ghost Bear is exception or something.

You and me both. Bad Saturday morning cartoons from the 80's is what it always reminded me of. I would love to see Axeman though after the Flashman and Thug.

All this talk about Melee 'Mechs... IF you were to do a 'Mech Pack I would suggest the following:

Light: Scarabus
Medium: Hatchetman
Heavy: Axeman
Assault: Berzerker
Add the Night Sky as an reward for having one of the resistance packs, like they did with the Mad Dog

Later on you can do Hero/ Champion 'Mechs:

Banshee Rienesblatt
Banshee BNC-8S (this on scares me when it hits the broad)
Black Knight BL9-KNT
the 3025 Yen Lo Wang is supposed to carry
and the Ti Ts'ang is just broken... I see it in the TT and it get burned down, A.S.A.P.

I just picture running a Spider, jumping into the backs of Atlases and going to town...

Can I ask for Death From Above attacks? "Highlander's Burial" anyone?

And don't get me started with my personal favorite, Talons! Watch me in my Turkina X putting the "Highlander's Burial" to shame...

We need the Axeman cuz it’s freaking awesome!

If it had a melee weapon that worked, I would buy every variant.

Same for the Hatchetman

Same for the Berserker

Same for the No-Dachi (I might but 2 of each variant of the No-Dachi cuz it has MRMs!!!)

Two words: Melee module

Weapon module. Able to be equipped on all mechs with elbow actuators. Allows attack equal to tonnage divided by 10 rounding up, close range, cooldown 10 seconds.

For mechs that could equip melee weapons damage is equal to tonnage divided by 5. Cooldown reduced to 5 seconds.

I'd say melee could be coded quick and dirty into mwo *cough* as a really low range weapon with no heat and no ammo but big CoF. Make a swing animation and call it a day.

Bad sadly, I expect an answer with the words "circus", "childish" or "ridiculous" in it if you poke russ about it.

And Maps...

We need maps.

Plenty of mechs in the game... they spit them out like candy from a candy machine now.. But we play all of them on the same 2-3 favored maps..

No Axman? Oh good golly, how would we ever survive without one?

Its easy to add the Hatchetman mech.
But axe will be only decorative (like a Kodiak claws) because MWO have no close fight.
