Alex has been able to work some miracles in the artwork department so with the exception of the Wyvern (ugh) then the mechs I don't want to see are direct contributors to power creep. Pretty much anything past 3050 (3050 technically included but THAT ship has already sailed, RIP 3025). Wyvern and a couple chicken walkers that look like fat chickens, Black Lanner, and one more I purged from my memory...

Just look at how its head is slumped. It knows how stupid it looks. I almost feel sorry for its self awareness.

Deadliest Warrior puts the lie to it:

Granted when the whole show was done, the simulator had it 51% to 49% Samurai. Which tells me that the better warrior always won, regardless of 'weapon advantages'.

And yes I chose the Samurai one because I know the Katana makes you hive.

But here, as in history,:

http://www.spike.com...night-vs-viking

The knight is coming out way ahead.

Actually I practiced mando for some time, and LOVE the katana. Just not against heavy armor. Light or unarmored?. I would take out almost every time.

My two fave deadliest warrior "surprises" was the deadlines of the Spartan's hoplon as a weapon, and the viciousness of the Celt's burda club. I heart the Spartan v Ninja episode. Though in reality, unless it was a very bad ninja, they would never have met head to head.

Judging by its Sarna profile, the Baboon is basically just a Catapult but as a light Clan 'mech. There's a even a version that replaces the pizza boxes LRM-5's with an ERPPC, so it has it's own tiny K2 variant. Any of you Clan players want a smaller, more fragile, less capable and sillier looking Catapult?

At least with this mech stacked VCR missile boxes are actually part of the design aesthetic! Posted Image

The first time I saw the Yeoman I thought it had 360 torso rotation due to the fact it looks like the leggs are backwards

Wait.... it has a torso? I thought they just took a TBR missile pod and stuck a leg to it and then welded two of them together.

Alex could make this in 3 minutes flat. Easiest. Model. Ever. 2 Catapult ears stuck onto some Mad Dog legs. Done. Maybe slide the cataphract cockpit area/windows in between if it has to actually have a cockpit.

Bishop,

A page or two back you made a sarcastic comment responding to Tarogato's statement that PGI should just stop introducing new mechs and focus on game play. Your response suggested that if PGI did this it would be cutting off its only revenue stream. This gets me to thinking: why doesn't PGI sell something else to create revenue?

Things I have in mind range from the probable absurd (a subscription service that provides the user to various unique cosmetic options for mechs, access to a map builder and/or other aspects of the game that do not directly affect game play but which provides the fanatical player base, that this game has, with the ability to make some cool looking stuff for themselves and others) to more mundane features that I am sure if we all thought about it PGI could sell (again things like cosmetic features, unique paint and decal schemes -unit specific perhaps?-, pilot customization, etc.).

My point is that I think if PGI put a little effort into this they could think of a plethora of things that they could sell us, other than mechs; and that the player base would lap up just as readily.

Can't this be said about 70% of mechs in game? "It's just bla with this on it!"

I always liked this quote from a guy on mektek 10 years ago. I was going to try to find picture to go with it, but after some of the recent postings it's probably not necessary.

Quote

But BattleTech presents the least technically competent artwork of any mecha on the market. I can hem and haw about how some art is okay or not so bad, but at the end of the day, if you ask me whose art looks worse than BattleTech, I have to say "no one."

Metaltech: Earthseige Series...I'd say Earthseige's "mechs" A.K.A. Hercs look far worse.

Spoiler
