I am not new, but just rebuilt my computer and am installing the game fresh. I cannot download the patch to the base client because it says it is timing out. Every other game I have reinstalled does not have this problem. Is there a fix for this or is there something going on server side that is causing this.

Please Delete, I am a noob I didnt run the repair tool, I think that may fix my problem.

Sorry, but no server side issues that I am aware of. Just curious, did you do a fresh install of Windows, or just hardware upgrades?
Assuming you did a fresh install of Windows, MWO is pretty odd. You will probably run into an error that you're missing a .dll file or several. When you get to that point, and hopefuly you get there soon, completely uninstall C++ and then do a fresh install of C++ (just search the net for it) and you'll be good to go.

It is working, the repair tool fixed it. yeah I ran a completely fresh install of windows 7 64 bit after building a new computer and I needed to install the full game. You know how fun new systems are the first 48hrs...
