Having recently tired out Fire Control to try and get a 6xc-UAC/2 DWF to work (it still didn't Posted Image), I just had to ask myself why Chain Fire have to be locked at 0.5 seconds?

Your fire groups should have a little icon called something like 'sequence' or 'timing' or similar above each group (1-6) that you can navigate to using your arrow keys and right ctrl.
Mark that icon and you get a small input window that has a default value of 500 ms, and then you can input your own timing for chain fire specific to that fire group.

For instance, to get some sort of reasonable behaviour from the above mentioned 6xc-uac2 DWF, the timing for the AC2s worked a lot better at 229 ms, not 500 ms. Of course a similar effect can be simulated now by having a mouse with lots of buttons and careful planning of your fire groups and clicks, but I don't see why some weapon system should be penalised by the chain fire timing while others are optimized (in regard to DPS, HPS and Ghost heat)?

If the players could decide for themselves depending on what mech and weapon system they are trying to use, that would be much better.
If I could do that I would be sooo happy.

Add this as a function of Comand console or Targeting computers, or even a module.

Some weapons actually fire slower when chained.

Rather than an adjustable parameter, try setting the chained based on the number of weapons (of the same type) and their cyclic rate (duration + cooldown) in order to achieve ~continuous~ fire.

For example, five lasers with an individual cyclic rate of 3 seconds

cyclic rate / Number of weapons

3/5 = .6

The lasers would fire at an interval of .6 seconds. After the last-in-chain laser fires, .6 seconds later the first laser is cooled down and fires again.

Faster example:
Four AC2s with a .6 second cooldown.

.6 / 4 = .15

The ACs would fire continuously with an interval of .15 seconds or 6.7 shots per second.

EDIT: fix my math

wouldn't mind having timing tweak on the group config screen of the mechlab. tweakable in 50 ms increments should be fine.

it would also be cool to group groups. do a chain fire group of 3 other group fire groups with 3 lasers each.
