First of all, apologies. I have seen this thread in my year on the forums no less than five times so I know that I could go back and look at those threads but, with ever changing technology, I figured it popping back up can't be the worst thing.

With that out of the way, I am, somewhat inexplicably, still gaming with a mouse I got for under $20 at Staples. There is no excuse for this.

What is the best gaming mouse (let's say ~$100) and specifically, from you guys, what gaming mouse have you had great success playing MWO with?

Thanks in advance,

_Valentine

I use a SteelSeries Rival (now called the Rival 300). Price is USD60 on their website, but you can often find them for USD40. It has nice, big, easy-to-hit side buttons and I like the lighting effects. The ability to drop the sensitivity with the center button is nice, too.

I'm using a Logitech G502. It has a decent amount off buttons, and a great quality gaming mouse. I might try out my Razer Naga MMO mouse since it has a number pad on the side that works nice for weapon groups I imagine.

Just picked up a Roccat Kone XTD not too long ago, one of my favorite gaming mice by far. Button placement is nice, can use the scroll wheel as 3 buttons with the tilt, and can build macro's into the mouse for a wide array of tasks.

Comes with weights you can toss in if you like a heavy mouse, and it's a decent size.

I use a Logitech G700. A wireless $100 gaming mouse with rechargeable batteries. Very satisfied with the performance. It has since been replaced with G700S, basically the same mouse with a few cosmetics differences.

I personally use a Razer Naga Chroma personally.

Plenty of buttons and if you care about such things, color changing. Although a lot of mouses are decent depending on your needs. Great polling rate, 16,000 DPI (not that you would need it) and a very easy to use key setups.

The negative for me was having to make a account on Razer just to use the software. That's really about it, my last one lasted until I literally wore it out.

You should go to a shop (if you can) and actually try as many as you can.

This is really based on personal preference.

A Logitech G13 on the left hand is best. Heck, I only use a wireless Logitech trackball on the right hand for zoom, aiming, and alpha strikes.

If you like, you can supplement the G13 with a bazillion-button gaming mouse on the right hand. But I think that would already be overkill. Posted Image

I use a Razer Ouroboros because I'm left-handed and like having all of those buttons. Not many choices about for left-handed gamers.

I'm not as happy with my second Naga as I was with my first one. My first one wore out my left mouse button and I bought a new Naga last year since I liked it quite a lot. This one seems to hiccup, sometimes I can move it but it does not move the pointer or in game it will not move around when I'm trying to aim, for a second or two then comes back. Surfaces are clean so I'm not sure what it's deal is.

I do like the buttons on the side, Logitec has a mouse with plenty of side buttons, when I was looking they were more rounded where Nagas are more squared.

I've liked my Logitec's in the past but they didn't have the buttons on the side when I was looking for a replacement to one that I wore out when I bought my first Naga.

I'm happy with pairing it with the Nostromos. My Nostromos is 6/7 years old and still works just fine. Not sure if their new model is any good, I wasn't too impressed with it's looks when I saw it.

I would consider other games when choosing a mouse though. This game doesn't need every single button I have with my current mouse/game pad set and you can get away pretty easily with a mouse that only has only a few buttons even with a Nostroms game pad. Other games can make use of a lot of buttons so if you want to "future" proof, I'd find one with plenty of buttons that you can program.

I'm using a Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury and while it's technically a good mouse it's too big for my (actually not so small) hands.

The G502 from logitech is a solid one.
Now sold with integrated RGB lighting for the same price as the regular 502 if you're that kind of person.

Also comes with onboard profile memory meaning you can program teh buttons to your liking at your house and drag it anywhere and still have the same functionnalities even without the logitech software.

Razer Naga + autohotkey open source software = love

You have 17 buttons, including the number pad that you can program to be anything. Then with autohotkey, you can turn those anythings into macros, scripts, pretty much any user input to your computer.

(of course, 99.9% of my mechs are current set up either Button 1 / Button 2 as long range / others or lasers / ammo consumers...so I'm not really getting much use out of that number pad...I do use the 4 and 5 buttons as my artillery/airstrike and uav/coolshot tho)

Don't use any overpriced ricer ****, especially not any "gamer" gear and especially not anything from Razer period. I bought an overpriced Razer Deathadder a while ago because I liked the design and it broke in less than a year because Razer products are cheaply made garbage.

All you need is a solid, reliable mouse with 2 mouse buttons, a scroll wheel, and a couple extra buttons on the side; it should be $40 max unless you're a chump and like throwing money away.

Razer used to be good. My old Razer Plasma Diamondback from 10 years ago was extremely well-built and would be fine today if I hadn't gotten mad at vidja gaemz and ruined its center wheel.

I must admit, I am not too impressed with my Nostromo. I have a bad button and the plastic is soft and really wears down. On top of all that, it has ruined my muscle memory for my keyboard..... One of these days I'm gonna have to just bite the bullet and get rid of it. Not before I get a better keyboard though....
