The Kodiak is a Battlemech, not an Omnimech, so it will behave similar to the IIC's in the mechlab.

No, Kodiak is not an Omnimech. It's a Battlemech.

This has been known for years in previous MW games, the Battletech Wiki, etc...

Battlemech.

The others that said it was a omnimech either don't know enough about battletech or are new to it.

In the pre-quirk world of MWO, the Kodiak was a perfect example of why NOT to add clan battlemechs, it was hands down a better Atlas, post quirks, well if it is graced by the hit box gods it should do well, but still not as tough as an Atlas, thanks to quirks.

And fine, don't give them money for it, this IS a Free to Play game you know ;)

Yes, It will completely obsolete the atlas if they handle it at all the way they did the other IIC mechs.

So if you like the atlas, tough luck this thing is Atlas 2.0

If you don't like the atlas, you won't like this. (Or maybe you will b/c it'll be a straight better version.)

If bringing a general consensus helps, the above posters are correct, the Kodiak is and always will be a Battlemech. Anyone who says otherwise is either messing with you or full of nonsense.

So no, absolutely no omnipods on the Kodiak ever ever ever.

I find it hard to believe this will be better then an AS7-S with 4SRM 6's and an AC20 running 60+kph...Quirks have made the Atlas a feared mech once again. This thing will be on par with the IIC Highlander and Onion IMO without any quirks.

Kodiak works the same way as the IIC mechs, it's pretty much a non-IS IS mech that can fit clan weapons, engines and other clan tech. Long story short.

It can run essentially the same loadout with better cooling, more speed, and more ammo. It's only missing a single srm launcher. As much as I love my Atlas, the Kodiak looks to be just better.

Try and catch Spirit Bear if you can. Ofc I'm not gonna face tank the a CQB Atlas. Gonna hit and run and wear you down.

No but tbh, the Kodiak doesn't need omnipods. Unless its hitboxes are broken or it has a punishingly low max turn angle, like the poor Battlemaster, this thing will be incredibly powerful. Maybe not OP, maybe not Tier 1, but powerful and a good addition to any MechWarrior's Bay.

All the Kodiak's come with the 400CXL engine. It's a Battlemech, but it *shouldn't* blow up to side torso loss. The Spirit Bear variant has MASC allowing it to sprint. So right away, it's faster than any Atlas.

And while the Atlas 7S with AC20, 4 SRM6's, and 4 medium lasers is a very scary critter, the Kodiak can almost match that, but unlike the 7S will be much better suited to getting in close where all that firepower is supposed to be (honestly, I'd still do everything in my power to stay the hell away from a 7S, but Spirit Bear is going to be wear the brown pants time as well)

And hey, maybe we'll eventually get melee and the Kodiak can use its claws Posted Image

Agility would be similar (or even in the Atlas' favour?) due to quirks, but the Atlas will have extra HP (and certain ones will keep their weapons longer, due to 75% Crit Dam).

At least with the Hero, with a 400XL.
The others gain much more firepower.

What it's going to come down to, if they should be 1v1, is who can fire more and more often. The extra cooling the Clan equipment allows shifts the advantage to the Kodiak. The structure quirks on the Atlas are nice but I really haven't noticed any difference in weapon durability, except that I can hold on to the arm lasers longer because the arms stay attached longer.
