Don0t know why ppl were qquing about IIC mechs.
I had a lot of fun with the jenners, and now I'm wrecking faces with the Hunchies!
Finally I can run those builts I had thought as soon as I saw them.... Posted Image

The Highlander is the real disappointment because its so slow and clumsy and doesn't quite have the hardpoints to be devastating. Unless you are into lots of lurms. The Hunchie and Jenner are probably the best of the IICs to be honest.

I personally do not have any problem in the Highlander IIC than what anyone else has on other assaults (being slow).

Well Dire is even slower. I think the the real issue stands in the hardpoints, that's why the only HGN-2C I'm interest in is the HGN-IIC-C
This one should be a good mech:

Also the classic gauss + lezors seems quite cool to avoid the 3LPL ghost heat.

Anyway I must catch 'em all :)

The IIC-C is definitely the best one, by a country mile. I tweaked your build a bit:

HGN-IIC-C

Basically trades the MPL and 2xDHS for an extra jumpjet and upgrading the TC from 1 to 5 for more projectile speed on the UAC10s.. with the MPL gone you run cooler than you do with it there + 2 more dhs, and now the UACs are far more usable on fast targets. Added bonus is it now only needs two fire buttons.

Yeah but the Dire has good hardpoints. I'm just saying, I was disappointed with these HGN-IICs, much prefer the HGN-732B.

HGN-732B is my fav HGN, indeed. 2ac5+3LPL
I use it as brawler and has very good quirks. But I'm really waiting for the HGN-2C-C because I'll have more range and more dmg; it will have less tankiness but I'll work with more distance.

Orion IIC too, being that it gets some nice agility and firepower thanks to Clan XLs.

I play them everyday, they're awesome strafers and brawlers.

Lol, i never bother adjusting front/rear armour on smurphy builds. In all cases its 10 rear, rest front with my actual mechs (so if i take a stray PPC/2xAC5/AC10 round in the back from a teammate it doesn't have a chance of critting components out)

10 rear armor will result in critting damage when hit by a 10-damage front-loaded weapon; crits roll when your armor reaches zero even when there is no internal damage yet, so use 11 or 6 (I use 6) to avoid crit damage.

(See BMMU manual, page 34)

Really? I thought it had to do at least 0.000000000000001 dmg to structure in order to crit.

There was a post on the forum a while ago where it was tested... perhaps we can test it again?
