Make it so:

Heat Dissipation = 1.0 (normal) Heat <40% heat capacity
0.8 (80% of current) between 40 and 60% heat capacity
0.6 (60% of current) between 60 and 80% heat capacity
0.4 (40% of current) between 80% and 100% heat capacity

Numbers all just as examples! A little physically un- intuitive (shouldn't my heat dissipate faster when I'm hotter?), but provides a very simple system that allows for a cool trade off between alpha/burst damage and sustained/chain fire damage as the moment you push further up towards heat capacity you take longer (proportionally) to cool down, leading to less overall DPS. Similar to a lower heat cap but a softer and very intuitive penalty curve.

I think the main issue with this is it would mean good use of cool shots would become very powerful, but it avoids bolting in a new system and assigning new values (power draw, etc) to every weapon.

What does everyone think? Posted Image

um...no.

If it was up to me, i'd give all double heat sinks 0.2 dissipation with 0 extra heat capacity.
And Single heat sinks 0.12 dissipation with 1.2 extra heat capacity per heat sinks on top of stock 30 heat cap.

All sinks 0.2 dissipation.

1 slot = +1.00 cap
2 slot = +1.25 cap
3 slot = +1.50 cap

Bam. All sink-types now have a purpose. Short on slots, need more dissipation? Bring SHS. Want to create a monster short-range energy build? Bring SHS. Clans get too much of an edge in heat out over heat in with stock weapons? IS DHS slightly better.

Less need for quirks, better self-regulation.

  • LocationStill doing ungodly amount of damage, but with more accuracy.

Now this makes more sense.
