So, you want me to stand in place to do Etch-a-Sketch for the WHOLE duration of the flight, potentially unable to utilize any additional weaponry that I may have, potentially not able to move for practical purposes, for a somewhat dubious functionality? And you consider that "more viable"? Really?

Don't be obtuse, you wouldn't have to manually guide every salvo, you would still be able to lock targets, but you would at least have the options to 1) fire at mechs you can see but can't lock with some chance of actually hitting them 2) be able to clear terrain you couldn't otherwise clear 3) more effectively use LRMs as an area denial weapon to herd enemies.

Also, for info, if you reacquire the original target while missiles were in flight, and you have not switched targets in the interim, all in-flight missiles will reacquire and immediately re-home to target. For long range fighting that's really useful, but in medium to short range the turning circle of a LRM makes this not so great.

Thanks for telling me something I already know and not adding anything to the conversation.

Sorry, bro.

Why are you apologizing? You're saying the same thing I said.

I think in a game where the objective is to click on enemies, you shouldn't have a " competitive " or "viable" option with a weapon system that doesn't require ANY hand eye dexterity.

At the cost of not being able to direct that damage, while being forced to face at your target, and if firing indirectly, depending utterly on a lock another player can generally break at any time.

Or relying on someone firing a slow projectile to NARC pod your enemy which can be AMS'd away outside of about 200m.

Or snuffed by intervening terrain. Or the target moving into ECM.

Let's not even start with the long list of soft/hard counters, many of which aren't even consistently used like AMS.

OP is wrong about more focused C-LRMs.

IS and C LRMs have the same spread. Its the way clan LRMs work that makes you get the illusion of thinking that C-LRMs are more focused.

In reality IS LRMs are more damage/ammo efficient.

Large LRM racks are utter garbage right now. If you've been running LRM20 on your mechs, you can be reported for helping the enemy even.

All LRMs MUST have the same spread value. LRM 20 and 15 should have the same spread as 10. 5 can have a bit less that that.
That is the only way you can balance the huge weight and size, slow fire rate, and more ammo consumption.
Right now, an LRM20 is just a slow firing, ammo wasting LRM5 basically... that weights 5 times more

In short, **** LRMs the ultimate noob weapon. Nerf them more I say. I log off MWO half the time out of frustration because I took damage from someone who didn't even have to aim, don't even get me started on these new LRM friendly maps.

Learn to play...or not.

If you think the only objective is to click on enemies then the thing that isn't competitive or viable is you.
It sucks to be new but over time you will learn to use the cover available on all maps so that LRM's will be almost irrelevant... even on both "LRM friendly" maps (Alpine and Polar).
