Hey All,

Anyways, i have been playing MWLL and some Warhammer 40k Space Marine. My Computer will randomly crash while playing these games and was doing it while playing Dawn of War 2 as well. The Video will die, the monitor goes black then says there is no signal and then i have to reboot my machine by pressing the button on the case to get it back to working status.

I have ran temp checks on my GPU and CPU and both are running good temps while playing these games. The GPU gets to about 80 degrees C and my CPU is always running cooler then that.

My System is:

I-5 2500k CPU
GTX 570 EVGA
8GB DDR3 RAM

Any other system info i can figure out if you guys think it will help.

Any help with this issue will earn you cookies...

Thanks for reading, Thanks for helping.

What's your power supply? If it's shutting off then it sounds like you might not have the amount of power you need or it's going bad. At least that's what mine was doing before it died horribly.

What is your power supply and motherboard, and have you updated all of your drivers to their newest versions?

80C is not too hot for a video card, so it shouldn't be that... unless some other part (chipset, maybe?) is getting too hot.

It could be the power supply: do you have a quality brand / model, with enough wattage to handle your hardware?

It could also be a software glitch, though I would expect a BSOD or a *restart* instead of what you have described.

My gut instinct is also to say it's the power supply, but possibly also the RAM. Does it really only happen when playing games, or does it also happen when doing less demanding tasks like surfing the Internet and word processing?

ALL Specs, especially (PSU), and Temps you are seeing in Hardware Monitor, alt tab out of game after a few minutes and write them down..
.
Video Cards, CPU(cores), Mainboard(socket), will be three of the biggies to get... (temps)

also make sure you monitor cable is not half way plugged into the video card, just worth checking at least.

No kidding I showed up to a customers house and his was getting horizontal lines with yellow bars, and al kinds of crazt stuff..
Turns out his VGA cable was not seated all the way...
.
Now did your computer BSOD at all (Blue Screen), does the computer stay running, but screen goes black..??
Black screen is one symptom of bad RAM, or RAM not being seated correctly... I think someone above me said that as well.

Motherboard is a p8p67 LE
Power supply is CPAZ-CP700... its a older power supply...

i will get more temps here is a second

All drivers are up-to-date and the cable is seated good, no BSOD and thats what im thinking is a indication of a PSU failure being imminent

You're PSU doesn't have enough power to push your GPU it would seem. The 2nd 12v rail has a maximum output of 264 watts, and the Geforce GTX 570 uses on average around 200w, but can go up to around 300 watts when pushed to it's limint. Also, keep in mind that a power supply degrades over time, so you may have lost that wattage overhead... so yeah it's likely your PSU.

I hawe had exactly the same problem just 2 weeks ago with a brandnew System worth 1800€, howewer it crasched only during games.
Browsing the options with the customer service (i was 3 times there and they still got no clue what was wrong ) i finally started to change the components, beginning with the Graphics card and went from Sapphire Radeon 7950 3GB OC to XFX 7970 3GB Black Edition with the result, that everything is fine now.

Btw, i also posted it on different forums and most of the suggestions i got hawe been about the temperature.

ahhh. I have to say thanks for all the quick good replys from all of you. I'm beginning to suspect the PSU may be doing just what you said.

That brings me to gathering opinions on what would be a good PSU? i have a HAF 932 as my case and i would love to have something that can fit inside that and have enough power to push everything.

Like i said the PSU i have is a older one, probably about 3-4 years old and its been pushing constantly all that time.

Not enough AMPS will brown out a Video Card....

What is your budget for a PSU? For a good one price / performance wise with modular cables at $100, there's this:

Also a couple of people have mentioned RAM being the culprit. Any good testing progs for RAM?

I would recommend staying away from Coolermaster PSUs. They don't use top of the line internals and aren't good price / performance wise generally.
The two best PSUs for your budget and build that you can really get are the following:
Longer warranty: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139035
Better efficiency, quieter:http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817121092

for your RAM, there is a RAM check test feature in your BIOS you can use.

try freeware then while in windows perhaps? http://www.memtest86.com/
you can make a CD from that and boot with it if you need that if you can't find it in your UEFI.

cpu gcard an ram all good so psu in my vote.
If the motherboard runs the cpu then its fine also.
Current drivers is also assumed as today the stock driver is rarely the problem.
Or at least as a tech a PSU is what I would sell you first lol.
Also note that if it does not do a crash every 5 min then some random crash is just the winOS that crapped out.
