Congrats to everyone that got in! as it is now past 4 PM Pacific time I assume no more will be getting in (me included).

What does one do now that we have time?

Here is a list of things to do before Aug 7:
  • Fire up the barbie and invite some friends over
  • Buy family birthday presents in advance
  • Go down to the Beach and bask in the sun
  • Float down a river in a white water rafting experience (I love doing this)
  • Go camping
  • Go visit a national park you have never been to
  • Treat your wife/GF to a night of attention; flowers, wine, dinner and a massage
  • Go to the Gym
Help me add to the list people!

I bought some steam games in the summer sale, but no matter how much the little fellas whine and scratch at the steam window while wagging their tails, I just can't muster the enthusiasm to play with them.

I'm in the best area for it. California and Virginia produce the best wines and meats in the USA, MD is a microbrew fantasy! Both are next to DC! Top end wines in season! Top end micro brews! Summer for fresh produce, fresh pig, and it's beef time! Not to mention the best seafood comes from Maine and the Ches bay and gets shipped right up the driver to us in the warf (South West DC for those not local). Concerts on the grass as well.

To put in perspective, wines that go for 300+ at dinner, 20 bucks from the vendor, seafood that was 40 bucks a pound, 10 bucks, beef at 70 a steak, 20 bucks.

It's a good season here!

I have to agree with all of that.

I did the west coast of the U.S. last year, my god what a blast. California was by far my favorite state, the others were good too but California spoke to me. Amazing seafood, wine, beer, nature and fun as hell people. Not to mention the woman, now that was a nice touch to the vacation.

One more to the list: Go to a county, state/province you have never been.

Cali is good for many things, VA and Cali are actually the high end wine wars in the US, good beef as well. MD though... you know how the crabs are famous from the bay? The Ches blue crabs, best in the world? Yeah.... those are worthless here we have so many of them. I'll grab some picks from the warf, but we throw them back into the river (they die) if they don't sell, people here only eat them truly fresh. MD has gone crazy with microbrews. It lacks the dry hills and areas of VA to do wine and some live stock properly, but damn they have seafood.

I assume Cali works the same, but MD and VA do not export their best. The beef and pork here is only moved as far as can be driven in a day, you buy it months in advance and they slaughter it for you, will butcher it if you want, it's only for locals. Ditto with some of the seafood.... some beers get moved out, but as is the local brewers barely make enough to support the local bars and supply kegs for us.

For as much hate as DC gets, the food around here is pretty damn amazing, and cheap! Just don't eat high end out, unless you feel like throwing 300 a person for high end.

I'm East, the east is fine from DC on up, the south east is well... a ******* mess to put it nicely. Just keep in mind VA = Cali for food, and rich as ****. MD has the best crabs out there. The top seafood in the world comes from Maine, MD, Alaska, and you'll pay for it... unless you live local and then it's worthless. I can take my boat out of the DC marina if I want, go into the bay and get what I want. The slogan here to stop polution is "save the crabs so we can eat them" and it works.

USA is odd, the coasts are great, the other places..... heh, oh brother. There are some nice places in between, but costal America is completely different from rural/southern America.

For a food tour of the US. Cali, Oregon, Alaska, DC tri state (only makes sense if you live here), NY, Austin for BBQ, Miami for Cuban!

Refuse to believe that the beta invites are over for the day! Check back on email every few minutes, get excited when I see a new message, get even more excited when I see it is from MechWarrior Online... and then cry when I realize it is just someone PM'ing me :(

Good thing I'm in the state that produces a lot of great micro brew beers!!

I just grilled burgers, had Fat Tire beers, and refreshing my worn-out button, F5! :(
