Sarcasm aside, they are needed. Some of the textures are very low res by modern standards. I was actually shocked how low res the Steiner skin on the Zeus is, and I paid for it. I am really glad to get something for my money now.

If you don't like it, just don't run the game at max settings, simple as that.

Hmm. Can I put in two requests?

1. Put the 2K texture as a optional download? Some of us can't run it. Downloading things you can't run... well...

2. Can I request for wireframes instead? I run LRMs. Most of the time I don't even know what my target looks like. I get along perfectly fine with wireframes.

Sub-request arising from 2: Heck just give me Torso Cockpits. Then I can use my head as a TAG and BAP turret!

That"s on an ADLS2+ service. It is truly bad. Even the service provider says anything less than 1.5Mb/s is considered a service fault, but every time I reboot the modem (at their request) and run a speed test to their server it comes in at about 1.6-1.7 so just high enough to not be able to contractually force them to do something. Reality is though that it is often less. What is really frustrating though is that I actually get about a 30ms better ping to all servers on this service than I do from home which is a different provider but I get about 17Mb/s download speed. The vagaries of the internet boggle the mind sometimes.
