Thanks to PGI's tracking for the Pot of Gold event, I was able to compare my match scores in the various weight classes. For lights, I was still skilling up my ravens, and I tossed in a couple arctic cheetah matches. For mediums, I used a splat build Griffin 2N. For heavies it was a 3xLPL/4xMG Black Widow. For assault it was a 2xML, AC20, 3xSRM thug built Atlas D-DC.

The results:
mech - average match score - max match score
RVN-4X - 240 - 234
ACH-B - 309 - 358
RVN-3LC - 362 - 595

GRF-2N - 285 - 451

WHM-BW - 258 - 653

AS7-D-DC - 298 - 519

With the exception of the Raven 4X, the lights significantly outperformed the other weight classes, and honestly, I was mostly yolo'ing the 4x to get my 3rd skilled up Raven since I really dislike that variant.

The Black Widow had the best and third best highest scores (cuz I was totally 'sploitin' massive machine gun damage), but it also had a bad tendency to walk around corners into overwhelming fire and get itself blowed up real good, and while I have 340XL engine in it making it pretty spry for a 70 ton mech, it still has nothing on the Raven or Cheetah when it comes to escaping a bad situation.

The Atlas was the overwhelming favorite of my teammates. Not only does it provide ECM coverage for the other assaults, but I actually assault with it. PUG's like it when they have a wall of metal to sneak around a corner with that absolutely, positively, does not try to back up when it sees the enemies it spent all that time sneaking up on.

The poor splat Griffin was a solid mech, but alas, just not as quick as the lights making it harder to catch up the red doritos and rack up damage and kills, and nowhere near as attractive as the Atlas when it comes to encouraging allies to hang out with it for overwhelming deathball fun.

So, anyone else have any interesting results from the PoG tracking?

Your 4x just needs more AC20. Then it'll be fun and awesome.

Heh. That almost ends up being worse than the Urubie-20 :P

I got a config that allowed 3 tons of ammo which means 420 total possible damage. But ya...nope :P

XL195, FF, Endo, SHS, 1AC20, 3tons of ammo, and 1ML.

That's the ticket.

Ya, but if the cheeseburger goes on sale for $.79, then when you buy 4 at full price, I get 5!

I also get fatter, but who cares. EXTRA CHEESEBURGER!

Lights are quite good mechs. Until you meet players that can actually aim ... or use CSSRM builds.

You can't use the Pot of Gold event to gather data - games with a matchscore below 150 are not included on the page, so in a sense all of your light mechs appear artificially boosted.

While that crowd says lights are OP. i'm a firm believer that lights take the most amount of skill to properly use.

Ya. You have to be able to shoot while moving, and you have to know better than to stay anywhere where there are multiple enemies who could shoot at ya.

These are skills well beyond most puggers.

Speaking of lights I was just staring at my Huggin in the Mech lab

And started wondering what the highest damage recorded in a light

By chassis
Commando
Death knell
Firestarter
Huggin

To name a few
