It's funny to see the same trolls in other people's I want this mech threads, trying to tell them they can't have it because X reason.

Anyway...

I'm totally in support of these mechs coming into the game. I even suggested they would come in as a pack with my beloved mech, anyway good luck on the fight, after I'm done with my fight, I'll come help fight yours and maybe we could throw a Blood Asp in there Posted Image

No one said anything about peeps not having "their" mechs. The only thing i see is scarecrow saying the nova cat and madcat mk9 is an IS mech because.. reasons. Ive just taken a background position and let Russ do whatever. Way to blanket statement us as trolls without knowing whats going on mr troll.

This has been my argument. How the mechs will land, if they do, will depend on what Russ wants to do with the lore. Lore has dictated the greater breadth of decisions regarding content in the game. I'm inclined to think PGI will try to stay on the side of lore when venturing outside the current timeline. I think they're fairly careful about not shooting themselves in the foot in this regard... not a trait they seem to exhibit in most other aspects of the game.

Ultimately though, who knows. PGI's vision for the game is somewhat fluid. You cant alway tell which way things will go. But I think the extreme reluctance we're seeing to release the MkII, which could arguably be a big source of revenue, is very telling.

The extreme reluctance is because the base variant is 13 years out of timeline. No other reason.

Don't kid yourself. As far as MWO is concerned, clan tech will always be clan, and IS tech will always be IS, regardless of future lore affiliations of specific factions or fluff about specific mechs.

You really think they care enough about the specific fluff to cause the sort of uproar that allowing IS factions to use a Clan tech mech would, when they are allowing all Clan factions to use the Kodiak, which afaik is pretty much Ghost Bear only? No chance.

I doubt it. Or rather, what Russ wants to do with the lore will be constrained by their coding abilities.

Right now we can't have mixed tech. Period. The game can't do it.

Long before we have to worry about some Clans being part of the Inner Sphere, we have to deal with mixed tech. That involves PGI touching some pretty fundamental parts of the code and making significant changes.

So... allowing IS factions to field Clan Mechs (which is all that is necessary) is going to depend not on how Russ wants to handle lore, but on whether or not they can actually do it at all.
