It is very fun to chain fire 5 or 6 LRM 15's on something. The build doesn't have a lot of armor and ammo, so that makes surviving with a decent score that much more challenging.

Yeah... but LRM-20s are terribad. Just look at your own stats.
Mine are like 30% accurate, vs 40% for LRM-15 and as high as 50% for LRM-5. Which means that Orion's "alpha" is really only 24 pts, not the 80 that it claims. Because only 24 of those missiles are going to hit, on average.
My LRM-15s literally do just as much damage as my LRM-20s, but weigh less, use fewer slots, generate less heat, and have a faster cooldown. There's literally no reason to ever use an LRM-20 based on my stats. The LRM-15 is straight-up superior in every way. (Yours may vary, of course, but I'm willing to bet that your stats will also tell you that the LRM-20 sucks.)

Fair point.
In my defense by "viable outside Tier 5" I was referring specifically to my own, Tier 3.
Also, this is where that "circling and" part of the "circling at 400m while pouring LRMs into your opponent" is key. If you are circling, they can keep shooting at the same spot, but you will no longer be there
In my experience, this particular build is Easy Mode. If I'm tired of getting rekked, I hop in here, hit 800+ and 4 KMDD. Unless its an Archer Release weekend and everyone else is using LRMs and TAG and NARC or ECM... But otherwise I dominate and my tier bar goes up and I cry and promise never to do it again I promise don't make my tier go up....

My LRM accuracies are all very similar between 30% and 35%.

So in your case it still sucks, but the LRM-15 isn't strictly superior in every way.
(Read: factor in weight, cooldown, etc, and you're probably still better off with an LRM-15, but it isn't a foregone conclusion for you.)

LRM15s are outright better.

This. LRM20 is way worse than the LRM15 in pretty much every way.
x4 LRM15s is by far the best configuration for an assault-class LRM boat.

But LRM20s, IS and Clan, are so terribad that you shouldn't waste the tonnage they use up.

IMO the warhawk is way better since you get 4 energy hardpoints
highlander only gets 2 energy hardpoints so youre basically defenseless up close which is terrible for an assault. you will get walked all over by light mechs with only 2 lasers.

Anyway here is Artemis lrm 80 with tag BUT frontal armor is shaved down by 20 points on each torso and only 30 leg armor
EBJ-PRIME - 87.1 kph - 288 armor - 13 doubles - 4 LRM 20 artemis - 1260 lrm ammo - TAG
Do lrm 70 for 3 more tons of armor or ammo

A 75+tube lrm boat is taking a bad idea and trying to see if you can make it full out worthless.
I appreciate your desire to gimp your team without just disconnecting at the start of the match but taking a bad idea to this extreme, it's over killing bad.
Have you considered playing with a steering wheel?
Large launchers are inferior. Pure LRM boats are a burden to your team. Have you considered a MG + flamer Atlas with no armor and an XL?

Even then, no. A single ALRM15 will outperform an LRM 20 or ALRM20 thanks to having so many more missiles on the 20 simply miss the target + increased scatter even on the ones that DO hit.
Just don't put an LRM 20 on anything, period.

This is what I'm going to try when I get HGN IICs.
