Orion Iic - Fantastic!

I feel like I just bought Clark Griswold's Station Wagon (Vacation). I had gotten the Jenner IIC and the Hunchback IIC and found them to be a lot of fun to play.
The Orion, which I just picked up when it became available for C-Bills couldn't be that bad.
Well, I was wrong.
The left torso and shoulder is a bigger damage magnet than the IS Orion was.
It has not survived a game yet.
No quirks for it, after all it does have Clan tech. LOL. Like electric windows on a bicycle.
Oh well, at least I didn't buy the Archer...

It suffers for it imo.
Thou as a support mech I think it works rather well.

The IIC version let you pack even more firepower.

ON1-IIC: UAC 10, 3 MPL, 3 SRM6A, XL 350.
ON1-IIC-A: UAC 20, ERM, 4 SRM6A, XL 350.
ON1-IIC-B: Gauss, 2 LPL, 2 ERM, XL 350.
ON1-IIC-C: 2 UAC 10, 2 LPL, XL 315. Could swap LPLs for ERLLs and get a faster engine.

On the other hand, you get more payload out of the Orion IIC thanks to being able to tweak engine size and such. BUT, you can't quite get the same top speeds, since Timber Wolves are 375 rating and OIIC's max at 360. And again, the Timby has better hardpoint locations + jump capacity as an option.
It is, literally a second-line 'Mech.

Yeah. You can ruin any mech's day with it, but if you get focused you'll go down fast. Timbers are much easier to spread damage on, and obviously are smaller with better hitboxes. Still, it gets the advantage of being focused less than Timbers since it's generally considered mediocre.

As a player of Orion IICs myself, I will disagree with you entirely on it being a ST magnet.
The main thing it's got is it's speed and firepower, you can't tank because you've got no quirks, you're a big skirmisher, moving from cover to cover shooting each time.
If you wanna play this weekend with me, dual orions, I'll show you how good they are, I'm guessing you haven't learned the play style yet.

I got the C and I've been running it with dual UAC/10s, downgraded the ERLLs to ERMLs, upped the engine to 315, added a TC1 and a second SRM 4. The over/under AC barrels are about the best convergence you could hope for even when close up.
Yes, it is probably one of the least tanky heavies, so you have to be especially careful how, when, and where you commit yourself. That said, it can outgun a Timberwolf, but like the Ebon it's a glass cannon.

Left side is massive, so use it as a massive empty shield. Right side peeks pretty well due to right side cockpit.
ON1-IIC-B
Also not bad, mini warhawk
Or this faster version, probably better actually
ON1-IIC-B
And this one for a 3rd variant would probably work quite nicely.

It's ugly though. That AC point in the RT pokes out SO far and is just painful to look at.

Wait...is it because you are being sarcastic that you can get away with a false statement? I'm looking at the same Mechlab you are and I see it has armor quirks.
